In addition, the performance of some other teams — including “Pro” status teams and “rookie” teams — may be recognized. While the annual prizes have little monetary value, competition for first place remains spirited. This visual clue consists of a celestial coordinate system displayed on a large poster. Values along the horizontal axis indicate right ascension (α) while those along the vertical axis indicate declination (δ). If you are unable to solve this clue, or to find Clue AB, open emergency envelope 003 , which will direct you to Clue B . This is emergency solution 003 , which will lead you to Clue AB . Upon reaching this heavenly clue, Hunters will remember the HWOW stating, “Hey baby, when I asked for your digits I didn’t mean your right ascension and declination.” The observant Hunter will also note the right ascension and declination coordinates at the bottom right of the clue. While pinpointing these celestial coordinates, the wise Hunter will construe that the first letters of each constellation can be put together to spell out “REDSOLOCUP.” If that song from Checkout gets as stuck in your head as it does in ours, then lift up that red solo cup and proceed to circle is located in Map Grid Q4. From Clue Site A, proceed EAST on Stage Coach Pass. From the intersection of Pima Rd and Stage Coach Pass, continue to proceed EAST on Stage Coach Pass for 2.1 miles and park on the Right/South side of the road. The clue site is 140 ft. SOUTH of the road on the SOUTH side of a grove of small Palo Verde trees. Solving this clue will lead you to Clue CA . This working visual clue consists of a sealed, black box, with 3 selector dials on the front. There is also a display and a button marked PRESS. The dials are labeled with the letters A, D, and O. Hunters can turn the 3 selector switches to the numbers 1 through 6. Regardless of the combination selected, when the button is pushed, the display always shows zero. If you are unable to solve this clue, or to find Clue CA, open emergency envelope 001 , which will direct you to Clue CB . This is emergency solution 001 , which will lead you to Clue AC. At first glance, Hunters may think that they need to find the right combination to solve the clue from this mysterious black box. However, some simple experimentation shows that whatever combination is chosen, the display always shows zero. So much work on the A, D and O dials yields nothing – yes, much ado about nothing! Well-read Hunters will recognize this as one of Shakespeare’s famous plays and remember that the HWOW linked you to an article describing the events surrounding the 400th anniversary of the Bard’s death. So start quoting your favorite sonnet and head over to circle is located in Map Grid N8. From the intersection of Pima Rd and Stage Coach Pass, proceed SOUTH on Pima Rd for 3.0 miles to Lone Mountain. Turn RIGHT on Lone Mountain and proceed WEST for 0.5 miles to Granite Reef (dirt road). Turn LEFT on Granite Reef and continue SOUTH for 0.15 miles and park where the road ends/makes a sharp right. The clue site is 35 ft. SOUTH of the road on the SOUTH side of a cluster of Palo Verde trees. GPS Coordinates for Clue Site C: 33.76746 N, 111.89994 W If you are unable to locate Clue CA , open emergency envelope 2300 , which will direct you to Clue DB . This is Clue AC. Solving this clue will lead you to Clue DA . This is a paper clue. If you are unable to solve this clue, or to find Clue DA, open emergency envelope 2300 , which will direct you to Clue DB. This is emergency solution 2300 , which will lead you to Clue AD. Clever Hunters will recognize images of Alexander the Great, Wayne Gretzky (“The Great One”) and Muhammad Ali (“The Greatest”). The images are in a word bubble, so someone must be talking about them… maybe even saying how great they are. Who always says “They’re Great!”? Why, Tony the Tiger of course! Head to is located in Map Grid R8. From the intersection of Lone Mountain Rd and Pima Rd, Proceed SOUTH on Pima for 2.0 miles. Turn LEFT on Dynamite and proceed EAST for 2.8 miles to Alma School. Turn LEFT on Alma School and proceed NORTH for 1.0 mile to circle/preserve entrance where you will see the Brown’s Ranch Trailhead sign. The clue site is 60 ft. WEST and 50 ft. NORTH of the center of the circle on the NORTHWEST side of 2 large rocks and a Saguaro cactus. GPS Coordinates for Clue Site D: 33.75610 N, 111.84406 W If you are unable to locate Clue DA , open emergency envelope 1300 , which will direct you to Clue EB . This is Clue AD. Solving this clue will lead you to Clue EA . This paper clue consists of pictures connected with arrows. There are two sets of pictures. In each set, the first and last picture are the same.
