PETER LODAHL, TENOR Danish tenor Peter Lodahl studied at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus and at the Opera Academy in Copenhagen. Upon completion of his vocal education he took on his first engagement at the Opera house of Kiel where his first roles included Don Ottavio in DON GIOVANNI, Decio in Vivaldi’s OTTONE IN VILLA, Percy in ANNA BOLENA, Rinuccio in GIANNI SCHICCHI, Cassio in OTELLO and Don Alfredo in Künneke’s LADY HAMILTON. He then moved on to the Komische Oper in Berlin to expand his repertory by parts such as Rodolfo in LA BOHEME, Alfredo in LA TRAVIATA, Lenski in EVGENYI ONEGIN, Tamino in DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, Belmonte in DIE ENTFÜHRUNG AUS DEM SERAIL, Ferrando in COSI FAN TUTTE, Almaviva in IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, Pylades in IPHIGENIE EN TAURIDE and Renaud in Gluck’s ARMIDE. In 2007 Peter Lodahl received the nomination for the “Young Artist of the year” award by the opera magazine Opernwelt and less than 2 years later he joined the ensemble of the most coveted opera company of his home country, the Royal Danish Opera where he won over audiences and critics alike as Tamino/DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, Ferrando/COSI FAN TUTTE, Rodolfo/LA BOHEME (opposite Anna Netrebko), Alfredo/LA TRAVIATA, Roméo/ROMÉO ET JULIETTE, Edgardo/LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR and Painter/Negro in LULU. On the concert podium he appeared in Stuttgart’s Liederhalle with soprano Diana Damrau and he enjoys a frequent collaboration with conductors Giancarlo Andretta, Michael Boder, Anthony Bramall, Frans Brüggen, Dan Ettinger, Simon Gaudenz, Paul Goodwin, Michael Hofstetter, Manfred Honeck, Konrad Junghänel, Patrick Lange, Shao-Chia Lü, Kazushi Ono, Pier Giorgio Morandi, Günter Neuhold, Marc Piollet, Christoph Poppen, Markus Poschner, Carlo Rizzi, Henrik Schäfer, Michael Schønwandt, Peter Schreier, Andreas Spering, Carl St. Clair, Andreas Stoehr and Arnold Östman. Being a versatile concert soloist much in demand, Peter Lodahl’s concert repertory includes Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, St. John’s- and St. Matthew’s- Passion, a wide selection of Cantatas, Mozart’s Requiem, Missa Brevis and Mass in c-minor, Handel’s Messiah, Jephta, and Joshua, Haydn’s Creation and Seasons, Paukenmesse and Stabat Mater, Mendelssohn’s Die erste Walpurgisnacht, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Mahler’s Lied von der Erde, and Bartok’s Cantata Profana. In season 2011/12 he returned to the Komische Oper Berlin for Rodolfo/La Bohème, Alfredo/LA TRAVIATA, to the Royal Danish Opera for Ferrando/COSI FAN TUTTE at the Royal Danish Opera and appeared at New York’s Alice Tully Hall in Stravinsky’s PULCINELLA. His concert highlight that season moreover include Mozart’s Requiem with Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Bach’s St John’s Passion with Aalborg Symphony Orchestra and concerts in Frankfurt and Kaiserslautern with the German Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. Peter Lodahl gave his much applauded Salzburg Debut in the Grosses Festspielhaus in February 2013 singing the tenor part in Verdi Requiem with the Mozarteum Orchestra under the baton of rising star Alexander Shelley. In June 2013 he made his debut at Vienna's Musikverein in Schubert's Mass in E-flat major with Franz Welser-Möst conducting the Wiener Hofmusikkapelle. Engagements of the last seasons saw him singing Fenton/FALSTAFF in a new staging at the Royal Danish Theatre, his signature role Don Ottavio/DON GIOVANNI again in Copenhagen, Schubert’s WINTERREISE in Esbjerg and giving his triumphant debut in the title part in Mozart’s MITRIDATE at Drottningholm’s Slottsteater. To start the 2014-15 season he performed Leukippos in Strauss’ DAPHNE with La Monnaie in Brussels while in Copenhagen he had been seen in productions of ZAUBERFLÖTE, ROSENKAVALIER and LES VÊPRES SICILIENNES as well as in a New Year’s Concert with Danish Radio and another concert featuring Donizetti’s REQUIEM with the Copenhagen Philharmonic. After appearing as Lenski in the frame of the Copenhagen Opera Festival 2015, Peter Lodahl’s upcoming engagements in the season 2015/2016 include a participation in Wagners DAS LIEBESVERBOT at the Teatro Real de Madrid as well as in Strauss’ DAPHNE (Leukippos) at the Hamburgische Staatsoper. In December 2015 he will star as "Jay Gatsby" in John Harbison's European Premiere of "The Great Gatsby" at the Semperoper Dresden, with Wayne Marshall conducting.
