DAN PATLANSKY - INTROVERTIGO ! May 2016 saw the South African release of DAN PATLANSKY’s eighth studio album, enti- tled INTROVERTIGO. “Introvertigo: The dizziness and disorientation felt by an introvert after spending more than 5 minutes with an extrovert.” - Urban Dictionary. INTROVERTIGO was voted the #1 Blues Rock Album in the world released in 2016 by BLUES ROCK REVIEW/USA, alongside names such as Joe Bonamassa, Chase Walker Band, Supersonic Blues Machine, Devon Allman, and many more. PATLANSKY becomes the first artist ever to place #1 on Blues Rock Review’s Top 20 Albums Of The Year twice (Dear Silence Thieves 2014, Introvertigo 2016). INTROVERTIGO was written over the course of two years - Patlansky immediately start- ed writing this follow-up after 2014’s critically acclaimed Dear Silence Thieves (voted Best Blues Rock Album in 2014 by Blues Rock Review, USA). INTROVERTIGO, similar to Dear Silence Thieves, is produced by Theo Crous and was recorded at Bellville Studios, Cape Town. “Introvertigo describes a feeling I very often experience being an introvert. The con- cept behind the album is very much about my own insecurities. It’s about being an introvert in the music industry, my experiences in the industry and life in general. Even though the songs on the album have different topics and are not directly about being an introvert, It comes from an introvert’s point of view.” Patlansky used his personal life experiences as inspiration for the album to ultimately marry good songs with guitar playing. Working with Theo Crous for the second time, he describes the process as more streamlined this time around, which allowed space for a more creative environment. “Fans can expect a unique brand of Blues Rock born out of guitar playing whilst striving for strong songwriting. I am very excited and proud of this album, and hon- estly feel this is my best release to date.” Patlansky was also voted Male Artist of the Year 2015 by Blues & Soul Magazine, #4 of 10 Best Rock Guitarists In The World by Total Guitar Magazine in December 2015, as well as one of the Top 20 Blues Rock Artists by Blues Magazine. In February 2016, he received a nomination for Best International Solo Artist for the Planet Rock Radio ‘Rocks’ Awards. He has also received a nomination from the prestigious British Blues Awards 2016 for best 'Overseas Artist’. Besides being voted #1 by Blues Rock Review, INTROVERTIGO was also voted #8 of the Top 15 albums of 2016 by Blues Magazine. INTROVERTIGO Track Listing: 1. Run A song about running away from mob mentality. The fact is, when people gather in large numbers, their IQ’s tend to drop. They say and do stupid things. 2. Poor Old John A tongue and cheek story I dreamt up. It’s about a guy’s wife who is unfaithful with a bloke called John, and the things the husband will do to this poor gentleman, when he gets his hands on him. 3. Sonnava Faith This song is not trying to knock Christianity at all, but rather the greedy people with some form of power within religion, that completely take the piss. Money grabbing, lying muther@#kers. 4. Loosen Up The Grip A song about how pain and discomfort in one’s childhood, inflicted by other kids, can com- pletely hold you back and choke you, as an adult in the real world. It’s about letting go of your insecurities. 5. Heartbeat A song from the viewpoint of a homeless man, begging on a street corner. Trying to con- vince people that he is made up from the same stuff everyone else is made of. 6. Stop the Messin’ A sexy note to a woman, telling her to let loose in the bedroom. 7. Bet On Me A song about backing myself regarding my gut feel. Taking risks that will hopefully lead to bigger success, even though people tell me it’s the wrong way to go. 8. Still Wanna Be Your Man The story of many musicians. Trying to find the balance between life on the road and fami- ly. The fear of losing your woman because of the road. 9. Western Decay Remembering better and simpler days in western society in year gone by, and the feeling of the world is rapidly changing for the worst. 10. Queen Puree A song about my little daughter Sofia, and how such a small person who can’t even speak properly yet, can have such control over adults, namely her parents. INTROVERTIGO is available for purchase on iTunes and at all Dan Patlansky shows. In- trovertigo was released worldwide on 6 May 2016. Ever since his debut album, Standing At The Station, followed by his 2004 major label (Blue Note, EMI produced) masterstroke True Blues, Dan Patlansky has been immersing himself in the rich and rollicking world of blues rock music. In February 2005, and again in July 2006, Selwyn Miller, the New Orleans based manager of David Gates, Bread, Randy Crawford and Petula Clark (amongst others), took Patlansky to New Orleans to showcase his outstanding talent. In 2006 Fender acknowledged his talent with a guitar and amp endorsement, making him only one of six on the continent to enjoy such a privilege. As Dan settled into his groove, what followed was a barrage of brilliantly executed eclectic and acoustic blues albums. 2006 brought with Real, Move My Soul in 2009, 20 Stones in 2012, and the unplugged wonder of 2013’s acoustically anchored Wooden Thoughts re- lease. With each new release, Patlansky’s albums brought with him a tighter and more engaging lyrical twist and even more interesting turns, all of which led beautifully to his much antici- pated 2014 full- electric album released in May. In December 2014, DEAR SILENCE THIEVES (produced by Theo Crous) was voted the nr. 1 Blues Rock Album in the world released for 2014 by BLUES ROCK REVIEW/USA, alongside names such as Joe Bona- massa, Rival Sons, Devon Allman, The Black Keys, Philip Sayce, and many more. “After over a decade of making albums for us, Dan’s seventh album continues to deliver the goods that have made him the premier blues rock guitar player in South Africa, if not one of the top in the world.” – Kevin O’Rourke, Blues Rock Review, USA. Dan started 2014 off with a bang when he was chosen to open for BRUCE SPRING- STEEN in front of 64 000 people at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg in February on his High Hopes tour. Dan was personally approved by Springsteen as support act, seeing as Springsteen rarely has guest artists for his shows. Also a milestone for Dan’s career when he played in front of the biggest audience he has ever played to. After touring Europe in 2013 with Everlast, Dan returned to the continent in October 2014 for another tour to promote Dear Silence Thieves internationally. He impressed Norway when he headlined the FJORD BLUES FESTIVAL with words such as ‘magic’ and ‘reli- gious experience’ used to describe his performance. With successful shows in the Netherlands and Germany, Dan ended his European tour by headlining the HORSENS BLUES FESTIVAL in Denmark, a festival where he played at the ‘Showcase Stage’ in the basement in 2013. After Dear Silence Thieves was voted the nr. 1 Blues/ Rock Album in the world by Blues Rock Review USA in 2014, Dan received raving reviews in European and international press for the album. Dear Silence Thieves was released in the UK on 27 April 2015, the same day he performed a launch showcase concert at The Borderline in London. Dan also visited Europe in May, June and July and performed shows in the UK, Poland, The Netherlands and Germany. In March 2015, legendary guitarist JOE SATRIANI announced Dan Patlanksy as special guest on his UK Shockwave November 2015 tour. The tour stretched over the course of 31 days, 10 countries and 25 shows. In May 2016, Dan released the follow up album to Dear Silence Thieves with Theo Crous helming the production, entitled INTROVERTIGO. Patlansky used his personal life experi- ences as inspiration for the album to ultimately marry good songs with guitar playing, and the album has been received with critical acclaim both in SA and abroad. Dan kicked off 2016 with his Sweet Home Africa Solo Acoustic Tour, followed by his IN- TROVERTIGO album launch tour in April in South Africa. In May 2016, Dan performed as special guest on award-winning Blues Rock band, KING KING’s nationwide UK tour, per- forming 26 shows over the course of May and June 2016 in Germany Netherlands and the UK. Back in South Africa, Dan completed a nationwide solo acoustic tour. Dan completed 2016 on a high note when INTROVERTIGO was voted as the #1 Blues Rock Album in the world released in 2016 by BLUES ROCK REVIEW/USA, becoming the first artist ever to place #1 on Blues Rock Review’s Top 20 Albums Of The Year twice (Dear Silence Thieves 2014, Introvertigo 2016).
