Dedicated to providing effective, responsive representation to the residents of Los Angeles County, Kathryn began her career in public Supervisor Kathryn Barger service as a college student intern in the office of Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich and rose to become his Chief Deputy Supervisor in 2001, where she served until her election to the Board in November 2016. During the course of her County career as chief policy advisor on Health, Mental Health, Social Service and Children’s issues, Kathryn provided leadership to deliver efficient and effective services and programs that have significantly improved the quality of life for foster children, seniors, veterans, the disabled and the mentally ill. Committed to keeping our neighborhoods and communities safe, she has worked with state and federal leaders along with our County District Attorney’s office, Sheriff, and other law enforcement agencies to implement tough laws and vital public safety initiatives. She is an advocate for the environment and efforts to preserve open space, enhance parks, trails, recreational programs and facilities; and strongly supports libraries and after-school programs to serve local communities. With a strong sense of fiscal responsibility and prudence, Kathryn is dedicated to providing vital county services while protecting financial resources as a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars. Jeff Hunt - Scout Executive/CEO Jeff Hunt has served as the Scout Executive of the Greater Los Angeles Area Council since February 1, 2017. Since joining the GLAAC team, he has partnered closely with the Board of Directors and the volunteers to achieve Journey to Excellence Gold status with a balanced operating budget, increased membership growth and is making significant improvements to both Camp Cherry Valley and Hubert Eaton Scout Camp. Jeff has over 33 years of professional experience and began his Scouting career as a District Executive at the South Florida Council in Miami Lakes, Florida, in 1985. He also served as Field Director, Finance Jeff Hunt Director, and Director of Field Service in the South Florida Council. In 1999, he was promoted to Scout Executive of the Nevada Area Council in Reno, Nevada. He returned to serve as Scout Executive in the South Florida Council in 2005. Jeff was promoted in 2010 to Deputy Regional Director of the Southern Region and later to Deputy Regional Director of the Western Region in 2015. Jeff has been active in Scouting by serving on staff at three National Jamborees. He is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow, Wood Badge trained and has served on Wood Badge staff. He is the founder of the BSA Camp Card Program, which helps Scouts earn their way to go camp. Jeff is a seven-time recipient of the National President’s Award for Marketing Excellence in promoting Scouting during his tenure as Scout Executive in Reno and Miami. Jeff’s passion is Scoutreach and creating opportunities for youth in disadvantaged areas to help them grow, develop and mature in reaching their full potential. He joins in partnership with the volunteers and staff of the Greater Los Angeles Area Council to deliver quality Scouting experiences to the young people of the communities they serve. Jeff enjoys golf, hiking, and spending time in the outdoors. He and his wife, Renee, have four children. Renee is a classically trained opera singer from the Eastman School of Music. Jeff attended Miami Dade College in Florida and majored in Education. He was a pitcher for the Miami Dade College baseball team. Tim Greenleaf - Council President Tim Greenleaf has had a 30 year successful private equity and venture capital career. Prior to his investing career, Mr. Greenleaf was a partner at the law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P., specializing in mergers and acquisitions, and complex tax and corporate structuring. Mr. Greenleaf has turned his attention to helping youth - both through BSA and through volunteer service and mentoring at Tim Greenleaf universities and business schools. He is currently the President and Chairman of the Board of the of the Greater Los Angeles Area Council, Boy Scouts of America and on the Board of Trustees and Audit Committee at the University of California, Riverside Foundation. He has also served on a number of boards of directors, including Green Dot Corporation (NYSE:GDOT), Green Dot Bank, Fairmont Capital, Garden Fresh Restaurant Corp. (Souplantation) and Shari's Management Corp. Mr. Greenleaf holds a dual B.A. in business administration and political science from the University of California at Riverside, a J.D. from Loyola Law School and an L.L.M. in taxation from New York University Law School. Tim served as Council Commissioner for the Legacy San Gabriel Valley Council, Boy Scouts of America and held several positions at Troop 358 in San Marino for 7 years, where he was Scoutmaster. Brian A. Byrne - Scout Speaker Brian Byrne, now a senior at San Marino High School, began Scouting in first grade and has enjoyed it ever since.
