The island has a long history of potters, and its ceramics are to be found in all corners of Greece. Making the short ferry journey to Milos we discover a completely contrasting island. Volcanic in origin, many visitors don't realise that Milos has perhaps the most extraordinary terrain of any of the Cyclades. Our walks take us past colourful rock formations, into caves and catacombs, along volcano craters sheltering rare cedar trees. We cross for a day to the small island of Kimolos where we'll see the geological phenomena of ‘Skiadi', rocks weathered into the shape of enormous mushrooms. The beaches are beautiful and often deserted. Our day spent on a private yacht allows us to venture along the island's west coast, with lunch on board, and is certain to be a highlight.
