The Life- Changing Joke

WINTER 2020 Our Family Has Grown! 3 Sharing Keys to THE LIFE- True Revival 8 CHANGING Pulled Over! 10 JOKE PRESIDENT'S PERSPECTIVE Norbert Restrepo Our Great High Priest Focusing on Christ’s heavenly sanctuary ministry will draw us closer to Him. he earthly sanctuary was “a shadow of heavenly things.” Hebrews 8:5. Through Tits services the work of Christ as our High Priest and sacrificial Lamb was clearly portrayed. This vision was meant to captivate the minds of God’s people and draw them closer to Him. Let us pause for a moment to recapture that vision. “But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man.” Hebrews 2:9. “Wherefore in all things it behooved Him to be made like unto His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. For in that He Himself hath suffered being tempted, He is able to succor them that are tempted.” Hebrews 2:17, 18. “Seeing then that we have a great High Priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an High Priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:14–16 (emphasis supplied). Oh, if we would keep our eyes and thoughts refreshed with this vision, what an impact it would have on our spiritual lives! The enemy of souls knows this, therefore he “invents unnumbered schemes to occupy our minds that they may not dwell upon the very work with which we ought to be best acquainted. The arch deceiver hates the great truths that bring to view an atoning sacrifice and an all- powerful mediator.”1 This is why we are exhorted in Hebrews to look unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith! If we do this, we can claim this promise: “Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If thou wilt walk in My ways, and if thou wilt keep My charge, then thou shalt also judge My house, and shalt also keep My courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.” Zechariah 3:7. 1 Ellen G. He is married to Lily May, a gifted musician and RN. Their daughter Sofia is currently studying nursing at Shenandoah University, and their son Dino is completing his degree in theology from Southwestern Adventist University as well as working in construction and seeking employment as a pastor. Dr. Karl is committed to grounding our students in the Seventh-day Adventist faith through recapturing the enthusiasm of our Adventist pioneers for the sanctuary message and its practical applications for today. With this guiding principle in mind, Dr. Karl cites the concepts of knowledge, power, and character as presented in the book Education as the “theme” of the Religion Department. “True education does not ignore the value of scientific knowledge or literary acquirements; but above information it values power; above power, goodness; above intellectual acquirements, character.” Education, p. 225 In Dr. Karl’s worldview, drawing from the above inspired insights will enable our students to have “understanding of the times to know what Israel ought to do.” 1 Chronicles 12:32. When the appeal was made, I responded. From then I began to learn more of that love that seeks not its own. This changed the whole current of my life, and I felt the call to surrender my life to the cause of God. Convinced that God had called me into the ministry, I was impressed with a need for formal training. In 2012, the following year, I learned about Hartland College from Loago Setswalo, who had just graduated. As I observed him, I appreciated what Hartland, by God’s grace, had helped him become. I was impressed to apply to Hartland, but my faith failed. I knew not of any financial aid at that time. But five years later the impression again rested heavily upon me, and I began to fill out my application. It was then that I learned about the Missionary Training Fund scholarship. I was eventually accepted with the offer of the scholarship, and God, through a succession of miracles, provided THE LIFE- my visa and flight ticket. As a Pastoral Evangelism major, I now have a much broader perspective on missionary work than before I came. The CHANGING health classes furnished me with practical projects that I can use as an entering wedge, and the Bible classes gave me a systematic understanding of the Bible— JOKE helpful for both teaching and preaching.
