Rolling Stone ’s list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time was originally published in 2003, with a slight update in 2012. Over the years, it’s been the most widely read — and argued over — feature in the history of the magazine (last year, the RS 500 got over 63 million views on the site). But no list is definitive — tastes change, new genres emerge, the history of music keeps being rewritten. So we decided to remake our greatest albums list from scratch. To do so, we received and tabulated Top 50 Albums lists from more than 300 artists, producers, critics, and music-industry figures (from radio programmers to label heads, like Atlantic Records CEO Craig Kallman). The electorate includes Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and Billie Eilish; rising artists like H.E.R., Tierra Whack, and Lindsey Jordan of Snail Mail; as well as veteran musicians, such as Adam Clayton and the Edge of U2, Raekwon of the Wu-Tang Clan, Gene Simmons, and Stevie Nicks. How We Made the List and Who Voted. When we first did the RS 500 in 2003, people were talking about the “death of the album.” The album —and especially the album release — is more relevant than ever. (As in 2003, we allowed votes for compilations and greatest-hits albums, mainly because a well-made compilation can be just as coherent and significant as an LP, because compilations helped shaped music history, and because many hugely important artists recorded their best work before the album had arrived as a prominent format.) Of course, it could still be argued that embarking on a project like this is increasingly difficult in an era of streaming and fragmented taste. But that was part of what made rebooting the RS 500 fascinating and fun; 86 of the albums on the list are from this century, and 154 are new additions that weren’t on the 2003 or 2012 versions. The classics are still the classics, but the canon keeps getting bigger and better. Written By. Radiohead. Alternative Rock (Modern Rock) band from Oxfordshire, England (United Kingdom). The name Radiohead comes from the Talking Heads song, "Radio Head", from the "True Stories" album. Formed by school friends in 1986, Radiohead did not release their first single until 1992's "Drill EP". The cathartic "Creep", from the debut album "Pablo Honey" (1993), became a worldwide hit as grunge music dominated radio airwaves. Radiohead were initially branded as a one-hit wonder abroad, but caught on at home in the UK with their second album, "The Bends" (1995), earning fans with their dense guitar atmospheres and front man Thom Yorke's expressive singing. The album featured the hits "High & Dry", "Just" and "Fake Plastic Trees". The band's third album, "OK Computer" (1997), propelled them to greater attention. Popular both for its expansive sound and themes of modern alienation, the album has been acclaimed by critics as a landmark record of the 1990's, some critics go as far to consider it one of the best of all time. "Kid A" (2000) marked further evolution, containing influences from experimental electronic music. "Hail To The Thief" (2003) was seen as a conventional return to the guitar and piano-led rock sound. After fulfilling their contract with EMI, Radiohead released "In Rainbows" (2007) famously via a pay-what-you-want model. Their latest album, "A Moon Shaped Pool", was released in May 2016. Download CHRONOLOGY ALBUM. Chronixx's debut album was released on 7/07/17. Rooted in various elements of Jamaican music, Chronixx ventures on a journey through life and sound. From Chronixx’s 2013 breakthrough anthem “Smile Jamaica” (produced by Silly Walks Discotheque) that put him on the map, to his latest self- produced, dancehall-styled single “Likes,” these songs are a guide to the progression of Chronixx as a well-rounded artist. His palette for rhythm is limitless, choosing an array of colors to paint vivid pictures. He walks you through the neighborhood that raised him on “Spanish Town Rockin” and pays respect to the women in his life on “Majesty” - both featured on his 2016 mixtape Roots & Chalice by Federation Sound. “Ghetto Paradise” (produced by Phillip “Winta” James whose credits include Damian Marley & Protoje), Chronixx expresses the bittersweet realities of Jamaica, a juxtaposition of the island’s beautiful aesthetic and the darkness, poverty and strife that lies within. He declares humanity’s indomitable spirit on “I Can,” produced by Parisian production duo Picard Brothers (credits include Major Lazer, Ellie Goulding, Kehlani). The album’s one and only guest feature is reserved for his father, Jamaican reggae vocalist Chronicle on “Big Bad Sound.” The song hails up all the generals from his father to Haile Selassie who helped shape him musically and spiritually. It is a true example of the art form’s continuation coming full circle. Thoughtful lyricism aside, one of Chronology’s greatest attributes is its grand production scale. The album’s rich instrumentation allows the messages to digest into a soulful depth. Chronixx co-produced the entire album with a diverse all-star cast spanning the globe (Rudimental, Stephen "Di Genius" McGregor, London-based Utters and NYC’s Federation Sound. Chronixx also recruited iconic American blues guitarist Donald Kinsey, who recorded and toured with Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, on songs "Country Boy" and "Christina" and a Chicago string orchestra arranged by Matt Jones on tracks like “Legend,” “Tell Me More” and “Black Is Beautiful.”.
