The transition from coaching to executive has been made very easy for me due to the support and encouragement from many people. I want to thank my fellow executive members Lawrence Karam, Michael Rodrigues, Stan Hetaraka and Anthony Samuel for all their support, hard work and most of all friendship. It’s an honour to be on this executive and being part of the club that’s based in the heart of Bankstown. Thanks to our general committee David Tarabay, Rhonda Elsayed, Brad Whigham and Maria Farah for all your tireless efforts in helping the club and supporting the executive. We’ve had many helpers around the ground including Mark & Rachel Shaw, Norma Hadchiti, Maria Ahen, Jessica Harmouch, Zahi Elzein, Chris Baldwin, Andrew Hadchiti, Elias Nassif, Yehya Abdul‐Al, Hussein Choukair and many Super 15/2 players – thanks very much. Thanks to George Najjar, Sandra Chahine, Rola Baghdadi and Charbel Challita for all your help and support to me behind the scenes. A big personal thanks to my former trainers Chady Salamah and Hussein Dia who have both kept me going and whenever I needed advice, support or true friendship it was always there. Thanks to all our coaches, trainers and managers who give up their own time to help the next generation of footballers. In particular thanks to those officials with no family in the club and still put their time into the club. One of the things that sets the culture in any club is the amount of current and former players that coach or train teams. Firstly, our coaches Vincent Ezekiela, Joseph Safetly, Hussein Dia, Ahmed Allouche, Chady Salamah and Anthony Chahla. Secondly, our trainers Isaac Nabhan, Alaa Chahine, Elias Nassif, Zac Darwiche, Amir Warwar, Corey Baldwin, Victor Barakat and Hicham El‐Ali. Thanks for putting back into our club as coach or trainer. We fielded 21 teams this year an increase of 3 junior sides from 2017 and all bar one side had full or close to full registration numbers to show the growth of our club against all current trends. The club had 5 teams qualifying for semi‐finals, 4 sides appearing in Grand Finals with the under 12 and under 16/1 sides coming away with the premiership. The under 9 came so close to premiership success drawing their grand final only to “lose” based on ladder position. This side at some stages had no coach yet the players stuck together a great effort. The Super 15/2 became the first Super 15 side since 2002 to make the Grand Final and played with great pride all season. This year the executive decided to highlight the prestige and honour of the Super 15 concept. Former Bulls players such as Marcelo Montoya, Ryan Matterson and Jordan Mailata have all been part of the Bulls Super 15’s. We thank Super 15 coaches Joseph Safetly and Hussein Dia for their efforts in promoting the Super 15’s. Both former players who played at the Bulls either side of Super 15. Sponsorship was organised right from the outset and the two squads enjoyed a great trip away at Narrabeen following in the legacies set by previous Super 15 sides. The Super 15/1 represented the club at the Bass Hill RSL Anzac Day Service and the Super 15/2 were constant helpers every weekend at Ruse Park. Both sides took the honour of representing the Super 15 to a new level. A real pleasing aspect is that the number of female players rose to 7 players an increase of 250%. A big thanks to Taleah Pupualii (u11/2), Ayeisha Elzahr (u10/2), Ayah El‐Ali (u8/B), Mary Dib (u8/W), Amy Tu’ifua (u7/2), Natalia Karam (u6) and Emily Shaw (u5). You seven amazing girls have set a positive platform for the club’s future. The club had many highlights this year including the $5,000 prize pack from Bryden’s Lawyer’s, the successful scoreboard grant from First Option Credit Union and the agreement of a new sponsorship deal with Bankstown RSL Club. For the first time since 2002 the club won International Club Championship – a mighty effort. The club’s compliance was 100% for coaches, managers and trainers. We increased our number of Level 1 FAO trainers from 4 to 13. Thanks to RTM Academy who helped the 9 new members with the First Aid component. Putting the yearbook together has once again been very hard work, but ultimately rewarding. Thanks to all the people who contributed to the success of the yearbook. Thanks to Taylor Ling for many of the photos. I hope you all enjoy looking back on the year that was and see you all again in 2019 where the Bulls will be even stronger. Matthew O’Neill 2018 Yearbook Editor & Assistant Secretary, Bankstown Bulls JRLFC www.bankstownbulls.com 10 www.facebook.com/BankstownBulls PRESIDENT’S REPORT My first year as the club’s president was very challenging, exciting and action‐ packed. I learned a lot in this role and had to adapt quickly as a leader. But, this could not occur without the best executive and general committee in the junior league.
