MAPKAP1 forms and essential component of the TORC2 complex which plays a critical role in AKT1 'Ser-473' phosphorylation. It is believed to modulate the phosphorylation of PKCA and regulate actin cytoskeleton organization. MAPKAP1 inhibits MAP3K2 by preventing its dimerization and autophosphorylation and also inhibits HRAS and KRAS signaling. MAPKAP1 enhances osmotic stress-induced phosphorylation of ATF2 and ATF2-mediated transcription. MAPKAP1 is a ubiquitously expressed protein with highest levels being detected in the heart and skeletal muscle. Multiple alternatively spliced isoforms of MAPKAP1 have been identified. Histology Positive Human skeletal muscle Control Tissue Western Blotting AHP1711 detects bands of approximately 37 and 73kDa in human skeletal muscle lysate Further Reading 1. Wullschleger S et al.
