Series: W1 The Javelinas began the night by scoring the game’s first 10 points on a 44-yard field goa by Julio de la Garza and a 56- yard touchdown run by Nick Pelrean. Pelrean finished the night with 102 yards on the ground on only 11 carries. Quarterback Connor Smith, making his starting debut for the Javelinas, completed 23-of-36 passes for 222 yards but was sacked four times and threw an interception in the red zone. The defense was led by Trevor Moses’s 11 tackles and Caleb Valentine’s eight stops and a sack. The Hogs also forced a pair of turnovers including an interception by Kuziah Ferebee.
