This brochure gives the rules and information regarding the Distribution of seats under various heads i.e. Home University, Outside Home University, Institute level seats, Minority seats, AIEEE seats etc.; details of the Reservation of seats, Fees concession offered to eligible candidates, details of the Centralized Admission Process (CAP), details of the Admission rounds, Institute/course wise Information etc. The Admission process for the Autonomous Institutes [viz. i) Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI), Mumbai, ii) College of Engineering (COE) , Pune, iii) Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Matunga, Mumbai, iv) Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Institute of Engineering & Technology (SGGSIET), Nanded and v) Walchand College of Engineering(WCE), Sangli vi) Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT), Pune] is being separately carried out by the Competent Authority appointed for these institutes. These rules also incorporate the guidelines (Annexure-II) for the rules of admissions, which are to be carried out by the Unaided institutes for Institute level seats and for the seats remaining vacant after the Centralized Admission Rounds. 1.1 Role of Competent Authority in the process of Admission to First Year of Engineering. a) The Competent Authority duly appointed by the Government and headed by the Director of Technical Education, Maharashtra State, shall be the authority for Centralized Admission Process and direct the students as per their allotment through CAP to all colleges. b) Competent Authority shall be the sole authority to effect admission through CAP for Govt., Govt. Aided, University Department, University Managed colleges. c) Competent Authority shall also effect admissions to a certain number of seats in Unaided Engineering colleges, for which such institutions have given consent. d) Competent Authority shall also deal with the representations received from the candidates pertaining to allotment and admissions in Govt., Govt. Aided, University Managed colleges, University Departments and Unaided colleges which acts as Grievance Redressal Authority and Appellate Authority at State level. e) To scrutinize the branch-wise list of the students admitted to First year, by all Unaided Engineering colleges submitted through the office of the Joint Director, Tech. Education of respective regional offices in the State of Maharashtra. The salient features of the scheme are:- 1. Under the Scheme, the Competent Authority for admissions shall be the same as for regular admissions.
