Home team gets the field for infield practice 7 minutes before game time. 3. Each team gets 7 minutes for infield practice if they choose. 4. Each team will provide two safety baseballs. 5. Full games consist of 6 innings. The top of a new inning may not be started more than one hour and twenty minutes after the scheduled start time of the game. This will prevent some games from completing a full 6 innings. 6. An inning consists of 3 outs or a maximum of 5 runs. 7. Encourage coaches to have players hustle on and off field. Goal is 90 seconds between innings. 8. There is no infield fly rule. 9. Batting team will supply an adult pitcher. 10. All Adult pitchers MUST be sitting on bucket or on knee. Do NOT pitch to the 1st grade players while standing up. This makes it very difficult for the players to hit the ball. 11. Defensive team will supply an adult catcher. No 1 st grade player is allowed to be catcher. 12. If the adult pitch gets hit by the ball or interferes with the play, the play is dead. All runners return to their original bases, the pitch does not count toward the batter’s total. 13. If a judgment call needs to be made, the final decision will rest with the adult pitcher. Hitting Team 1. All players will be placed in a batting order for the entire game. 2. If an inning ends before each player has batted, the batting order for the next inning will begin with the next player in the line-up. 3. There are no strike outs. Each batter gets 5 strikes . If the batter fouls off the 5th pitch he keeps getting another pitch until it is missed or hit into fair territory. 4. If the 5th strike is not hit, it does not count as an out, but a new batter must be up next. At no circumstance does the batter get additional pitches . 5. There are no lead offs. Runners must remain on the base until the batter swings. 6. Once a ball is hit into fair territory runners may advance at their own risk. 7. Base running if a ball is hit to the infield: Runners are allowed to advance one base on balls hit to the infield. They can advance 1 base on over throws. 8. Base running if a ball is hit to the outfield: The base runner can continue to advance, but once the fielding team throws the ball into the infield and ball is in possession of a player on the infield, all runners must advance no further than the base they are running to. If there is any doubt runners must return to the previous base. Fielding Team 1. *A maximum of 9 players play in the field every inning. 2. Fill the infield positions as normal, first, second, third, short, pitcher, and 4 outfielders for a total of 9 players in the field maximum. Defensive teams can have no more than 5 players in the infield at one time and no more than 4 outfielders at one time. 3. To be considered an outfielder, they must be at least 10 feet from the infield grass. 4. To be considered a pitcher, the 1 st or 2 nd grade player must be 6ft from adult pitcher. 5. All players on the team must play 1 inning in the infield and 1 inning in the outfield every game. 6. Every player must play each position during the course of the season, unless requested otherwise by the player or parent. Coaches are encouraged to have a regular rotation through the positions and keep track of where each child has played so no one is inadvertently put in the ‘action’ positions fewer times. 7. Outfielders may throw to a base for an out (force or tag.) * If there are more than 9 players on the team some players sit out during the defensive half of the inning. No player may sit out more than one inning in a game. A player who sits out on defense is still eligible to bat every inning. .
