Gleason, Commissioner For Immediate Release Contact: Lindsay Miller May 14, 2018 _________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2018 Baseball All-OAC Teams and Special Award Winners Dr. Bob Fisher OAC Player-of-the-Year: Ben Beachy, Otterbein Otterbein junior short stop Ben Beachy (Springboro / Springboro) has been named the 2018 Dr. Bob Fisher OAC Player-of-the- Year. Heading into the OAC Tournament, Goodall carried a .395 batting average. In 152 at-bats, he tallied 60 hits, 45 runs, 44 RBI, with 21 doubles and nine homeruns. In the field, Beachy posted a .953 field percentage with 56 putouts. Beachy has earned First- Team All-OAC honors. This is the fourth presentation of the Dr. Bob Fisher Award. Fisher retired in 2010 after 42 years at the helm of the Baldwin Wallace baseball program. Coach Fisher was the winningest coach in the history of the College with 700 career wins (700-641-14 overall). Kent Tekulve OAC Pitcher-of-the-Year: David Stover, Marietta Marietta senior David Stover (Pittsburgh, Pa. Thomas Jefferson) has been named the 2018 Kent Tekulve Pitcher-of-the-Year. During the regular season, Stover recorded a 10-2 record and one save in 17 appearances. In 72 innings of work, Stover posted a 2.24 earned-run average with 71 hits, 22 runs, and 49 strike outs. He has been named First Team All-OAC. This is the 18th year in which this honor has been presented. The award is named after 1969 Marietta graduate Kent Tekulve, who spent 21 seasons playing professional baseball, including 17 seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was a key member of the Pirates' 1979 World Series championship team, setting a major league record with three saves in the series against Baltimore. He broke Hoyt Wilhelm's record of 1,018 career relief appearances.
