Schedule Change for 167Th Street Repairs Over I-57

State of Illinois JB Pritzker, Governor Illinois Department of Transportation Omer Osman, Acting Secretary FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CONTACT: Aug. 29, 2019 Guy Tridgell 312.793.4199 Schedule change for 167th Street repairs over I-57 CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that improvements to the 167th Street bridge over Interstate 57, in Oak Forest and Country Club Hills, that began in April will continue with some upcoming changes to the schedule. This project will be completed in several stages, requiring temporary, daytime lane closures on 167th Street and occasional overnight lane closures on I-57. Now through late September, 167th Street will continue to be reduced to one lane in each direction over I-57. The eastbound 167th Street ramp to northbound I-57 will be closed, with a detour directing traffic to Crawford Avenue/Pulaski Road to access the interstate via 159th Street (U.S. 6). The southbound I-57 ramp to eastbound 167th Street also will be closed, with a detour directing traffic to the 159th Street exit to access 167th Street via Cicero Avenue (Illinois 50). From late September to late November, 167th Street will remain one lane in each direction, but the westbound 167th Street ramp to southbound I-57 will be closed, with a detour directing traffic to Cicero Avenue and 159th Street to access the interstate. The northbound I-57 ramp to westbound 167th Street also will be closed, with a detour directing traffic to access 167th Street exit via the 159th Street interchange. From late November to late December, all lanes and ramps will be open with intermittent, temporary closures at times to wrap up the project. Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
