CII LEADERSHIP 2011-12 B Muthuraman President, Confederation of Indian Industry & Vice Chairman, Tata Steel Limited Chairman, Tata International Ltd Mr. Muthuraman holds degrees in Bachelor of Technology in Metallurgical Engineering from IIT, Madras and a Masters of Business Administration from XLRI, Jamshedpur. He has also completed the Advanced Management Programme at European Centre for Executive Development, France and has undergone the Leadership Programme at INSEAD, France. Mr Muthuraman was recently bestowed an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters, Honoris Causa from Loyola University, Chicago. Mr Muthuraman joined Tata Steel in 1966 and has held various positions at the Company including Vice President (Marketing & Sales) & Vice President (Cold Rolling Mill Projects). He was appointed as Executive Director in 2000, Managing Director of the Company in 2001 and non-executive Vice chairman in 2009. He is the Chairman of Tata International Limited, on the Boards of several companies which include, Bosch Limited, Tata Industries and Strategic Energy Technology Systems Pvt. Ltd. Mr. Muthuraman is currently the President of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). He is also the Chairman of the Board of Governors National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur. Mr. Muthuraman is also a member of the Business Advisory Council of Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP). Mr. Muthuraman received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from IIT Madras in 1997 and the Tata Gold Medal from the Indian Institute of Metals in 2002. He also received the “CEO of the Year Award” from Business Standard in 2005, “CEO with HR Orientation Award” from World HRD Congress in 2005, Economic Times Award for Corporate Excellence in 2008 and IIM JRD Tata Award conferred by Indian Institute of Metals. Adi Godrej President Designate, Confederation of Indian Industry & Chairman, Godrej Group Adi Godrej is Chairman of the Godrej Group. He is also Chairman of Godrej Industries Ltd., Godrej Consumer Products Ltd.., Godrej Household Products Ltd., Godrej Properties Ltd., Godrej Hershey Ltd., Keyline Brands Ltd.,U.K, Rapidol Pty Ltd., South Africa. The Godrej Group is one of India's largest conglomerates. Mr. Godrej is a Director of numerous firms, including Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd., Godrej Agrovet Ltd., Godrej International Ltd., Godrej Global MidEast FZE, He is the Chairman of The Board of Trustees of the Dadabhai Naoroji Memorial Prize Fund. He is former Chairman and President of the Indian Soap & Toiletries Makers' Association, The Central Organisation for Oil Industry and Trade, The Solvent Extractors' Association of India, The Compound Livestock Feeds Manufacturers' Association, the Indo-American Society and the Governing Council of the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies and former member of the Dean's Advisory Council of the MIT Sloan School of Management and the Wharton Asian Executive Board. Mr. Godrej is a member of Tau Beta Pi (The Engineering Honor Society). Mr. Godrej serves as a member of the Governing Board of the Indian School of Business. Mr. Godrej is a patron of the Himalayan Club. Mr. Godrej is a recipient of several awards and recognitions including the Rajiv Gandhi Award 2002 and the Entrepreneur of the Year for the Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards 2010; Best Businessman of the Year for the GQ Men of the Year Awards 2010; Chemexcil's Life Time Achievement Award 2010 and AIMA - J.R.D. Tata Corporate Leadership Award 2010. He is currently the President Designate of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Mr. Godrej received his undergraduate and Master's degree in Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. S Gopalakrishnan Vice President, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) & Executive Co-Chairman & Chairperson, Executive Council, Infosys Limited S. Gopalakrishnan (Kris), along with N.R. Narayana Murthy and five others, founded Infosys in 1981. Kris served as Director (Technical) and his initial responsibilities included the management of design, development, implementation, and support of information systems for clients in the consumer products industry in the U.S. Between 1987 and 1994, Kris served as the Vice President for Technical Operations of KSA/Infosys, a joint venture between Infosys and KSA located in Atlanta, U.S. In 1994, he returned to India and was appointed Deputy Managing Director of Infosys. Before becoming the CEO and Managing Director in July 2007, Kris served as Infosys' Chief Operating Officer, President and Joint Managing Director, responsible for customer services, technology, investments, and acquisitions. He took over as the Executive Co- Chairman on August 21, 2011. Recognized as a global business and technology thought leader, Kris was recently voted the top CEO (IT Services category) in Institutional Investor's inaugural ranking of Asia's Top Executives and selected as one of the winners of the 2nd Asian Corporate Director Recognition Awards by Corporate Governance Asia. He was also selected to Thinkers 50, an elite list of global business thinkers compiled by Des Dearlove and Stuart Crainer, in association with the IE Business School, Madrid and the London Business School's Management Innovation Lab. In January 2011, the Government of India awarded Kris the Padma Bhushan, the country's third highest civilian honor. He has also represented Infosys and the country in such international forums as: The Indo-US CEO Council; President's Council of New York Academy of Sciences; and Member of UNESCO High-Level panel on Women's Empowerment and Gender Equity. Kris is also the Chairman of The Business Action for Sustainable Development 2012 (BASD), a coalition of international business groups committed to sustainable development. Kris is the Vice President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) National Council and on the Board of Governors at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore. He is also the Chairman of Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (IIITM), Kerala. He is a member of ACM, IEEE and IEEE Computer Society. Kris holds master's degrees in Physics and Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
