Alfred University�s Wayne Higby guest artist at Corning Museum of Glass 6/12/18 Wayne Higby CORNING, NY Wayne Higby, director of the Alfred Ceramic Art Museum, is serving as a guest artist this week at the Corning Museum of Glass. The Rockwell Museum and Corning Museum of Glass are teaming up to host Higby&s visit as a guest artist. Higby&s visit to the Amphitheater Hot Shop at the Corning Museum of Glass began Monday, June 11, and ends Friday, June 15, running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. In addition to serving as the Wayne Higby Director and Chief Curator of the Alfred Ceramic Art Museum, Higby is a longtime professor of ceramic art in Alfred University&s School of Art and Design. He is collaborating with the Hot Glass Team of The Corning Museum of Glass as part of the Guest Artist Series to experiment with new ideas and processes. His appearance at the Corning Museum of Glass this week marks the first time he is working with glass as a medium for his art. Higby&s artwork is currently featured in a one-person exhibition at the Rockwell Museum of Art in Corning. Earth and Sky: The Ceramic Art of Wayne Higby opened May 18 and runs through Sept. 4, 2018. It will feature works curated from Higby&s own collection, including selections from his well-known series of bowls, gates, and clouds. His work is held in the permanent collections of numerous art museums around the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the National Art Museum of China, Beijing, the Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo and the Hermitage, St. Petersburg, Russia..
