Synopsis Tiki Time is a feature documentary that follows one man on a quest to explore the culture of Tiki through a modern, culturally sensitive lens in an attempt to learn how to enjoy it responsibly. The film will dive into the music, decore, and drinks of Tiki as our guide “Tony Waponi” grapples with Tiki’s long history of cultural appropriation. The film will explore ways in which modern Tikiphiles are enjoying this fun, uniquely American past time, in a culturally sensitive way. Tiki Culture Tiki is a motif of exotically decorated bars & restaurants catering to an escapist’s longing for travel to tropical, faraway places like the South Pacific. Featuring mock tiki carvings and alluringly named alcoholic drinks, it eventually spawned an entire culture of bars, residential recreation, music, and fashion. Chart our course for adventure...
