CALL TO ORDER Representative Clay Schexnayder, chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture, and Rural Development, called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. in Room 3, in the state capitol in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. DISCUSSION OF LEGISLATION Senate Bill No. 40 by Senator Thompson On behalf of Senator Thompson, Commissioner Mike Strain, Department of Agriculture and Forestry, no address provided, (225) 342-7270, presented Senate Bill No. 40, which repeals the Boll Weevil Eradication Fund and assessments on cotton producers and provides for the disposition of funds. Representative Howard offered a motion to report Senate Bill No. 40 favorably. Without objection, Senate Bill No. 40 was reported favorably by a vote of 12 yeas and 0 nays. Representatives Schexnayder, Bourriaque, Terry Brown, Chaney, Emerson, Guinn, Hill, Howard, McMahen, Pylant, Stefanski, and Turner voted yea. Senate Bill No. 170 by Senator Thompson On behalf of Senator Thompson, Commissioner Mike Strain, Department of Agriculture and Forestry, no address provided, (225) 342-7270, presented Senate Bill No. 170, which creates the Rural Water Infrastructure Committee within the governor's office. Representative Chaney offered a motion to report Senate Bill No. 170 favorably. Without objection, Senate Bill No. 170 was reported favorably by a vote of 14 yeas and 0 nays. Representatives Schexnayder, Bourriaque, Terry Brown, Chaney, DeVillier, Emerson, Guinn, Hill, Howard, LeBas, McMahen, Pylant, Stefanski, and Turner voted yea. Witness cards submitted by individuals who did not speak are as follows: 7 in support. Witness cards are included in the committee records. IV. OTHER BUSINESS There was no other business. ANNOUNCEMENTS Senate Bill No. 61 by Senator Boudreaux Representative Schexnayder stated that action on Senate Bill No. 61, which creates the Louisiana Commission on Medicinal Plants, was voluntarily deferred. Senate Bill No. 152 by Senator Thompson Representative Schexnayder stated that action on Senate Bill No. 152, which provides for truth in labeling requirements of agricultural products, was voluntarily deferred. VI.
