Our mission is to increase tree plantings, tree stewardship, community en- gagement, public education, advocacy and research. Our planting portfolio includes McElderry Park and Ellwood Park, both of which are neighborhoods within the Harris Creek Watershed, Orangeville Industrial Area, Old Goucher neighborhood, Federal Hill Park, Otterbein, Hampden, Mount Vernon, Downtown, and Claremont-Freedom. What We Do: Putting Down Roots (PDR): A tree planting partnership with private property owners and the Archdiocese of Baltimore to increase the overall urban canopy. Trees for Public Health (TPH): This program removes impervious surface and plants street trees within the public right of way in neighborhoods with low tree canopy percentages. The impact has drastically changed the look and feel of the urban landscape. While helping to mitigate climate change and reduce stormwater runoff - street trees beautify, cool, and ‘humanize’ city streets. Trees also provide other important benefits: increased energy efficiency of homes, wildlife habitat, improved air CLIFTONCLIFTON PARK quality, and community engagement which empowers the residents to help DARLEY build a stronger Baltimore. PARK SOUTH CLIFTON PARK OLIVER Corporate Greening Days (CGD): In partnership with corporations and BROADWAY EAST BEREA businesses, our organization spends an educational lunch with employees teaching them the importance of Baltimore’s tree canopy, reduction of BIDDLE STREET stormwater runoff, and trash reduction. This is followed by hands on “Greening MIDDLE EAST Activities”- planting trees and improving neighborhood streetscapes in Baltimore.
