The Great Rock Island Route is also known as the Wabash Cannonball, which describes the scenic beauty and predicaments of the Wabash Cannonball Express as it traveled on the Great Rock Island train route. Music unchanged, but the verses have been updated by various artists. First appeared in 1882 as the Great Rock Island Route. It has the same chorus.
