The Directory resulted from a survey of over 800 ethnic minority professionals in psychology. Questionnaires were distributed to those listed in the 1985 edition of the Directory, to APA Minority Fellowship recipients and to those who requested a questionnaire after reading the announcements in several APA publications. A copy of the questionnaire is included for your reference. All data are from self- identified information. All those listed are ethnic minority profession- als in psychology who have expressed a desire to serve as professional resources and have provided written authorization to have their names included in this Directory. We hope that you will utilize the Directory to facilitate communications among ethnic minorities; to aid in recruitment; and to increase referrals of ethnic minorities for consulting, mentoring, lecturing, etc. Each entry in the Directory provides the following information: (1) Name (alphabetized by ethnicity) (2)Sex (3) Business address (4) Business phone (5) Highest degree obtained (6)Department (7)Date (8) Specialty populations expertise (see questionnaire for codes) (9) Areas of expertise in practice (see specialty codes) (10) Areas of expertise in research (see specialty codes) (11) Areas of expertise in teaching (see specialty codes) (12) Areas of expertise as expert witness (see specialty codes) (13) Division membership The Psychological Speciality Code List is on Page ___. They are very detailed. We suggest that you concentrate on the first two numbers of the six-digit code to give you a general idea of the area of expertise (i.e., 01-Systems, Methodology, 02- Experimental; 03-Physiological, etc.). If you wish more information, the entire six- digit code may then be valuable. 4 The appendices contain lists that we have found to be helpful: A. An alphabetical listing of the participants in the Directory, divided by sex. This Directory will, therefore, serve as a resource of ethnic minority women in psychol- ogy and replace any previous directories. B. A list of participants by state. C. A list of participants by APA Divisions D. A table of demographics of participants. This edition of the Directory has involved many hours of data collection and processing. Thank you to BEMA, the Task Force on Communications with Minority Constituents (Chair, John Moritsugu), Irma Leanne Beck, Lillian Comas-Dias, Robert Fulcher, Terry Grubb, John Lazo, Helen Makosky, and Robert Urbanek. Special thanks to Susan Grossberg (OEMA) and Joy Epps (Management Information Services), who were responsible for data formating, entry, programing and genera- tion. Christine C.
