BHSU plays another Black Hills State night game later this season, against South Dakota Mines on Oct. 12. Only South Dakota Mines has been first on the Eagles’ schedule more frequently. * Conference Games All times are subject to change Last Meeting When the two foes last clashed on the gridiron, the game was scheduled for 6:30 p.m., however lightning flashing in the Chadron vicinity forced the game to be delayed until nearly 9 o’clock. However, a sellout crowd of 3,500 watched as the Eagles raced out to a 28-0 lead in the second quarter. CSC racked up 284 yards on the ground, led by Kevin Coy, Jr., who scored three times and finished with 115 rushing yards. Black Hills State managed only 53 yards on its first five possessions before getting on the board with a touchdown in the second quarter. The only other points for the Yellow Jackets came in the third quarter, after they drove the ball 96 yards and a fourth-down goal line pass fell incomplete. CSC fumbled in its own end zone on the next play to score a safety and make the final score 45-8. Familiar Faces Eagle head coach Jay Long was the Black Hills State head football coach from 2009- 2011, just prior to coming back to his alma mater in 2012 to take over the Chadron State program. He compiled a record of 15-15 in Spearfish over three years while helping lead the fledgling NCAA Division II program into a new era.
