You are allowed 2 pieces of luggage free, each weighing 50lbs or less, and 1 carry-on weighing 12Ibs or less. Please remember your passports, and any visas required and verify if your passport has at least two blank visa pages and valid for a least 6 months. We provide free visa service. Visa applications plus 2 recent passport photos, valid passport and visa fee are required. Yellow fever vaccination is required to enter Ghana; please consult your physician. NOTE: ROUND- TRIP ADD-ON FARES ARE AVAILABLE FROM MOST MAJOR US CITIES. Day 2: SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 07 – ACCRA/TEMA – Greater Accra Region: Visit the W.E.B DuBois Center for Pan Africanism. Arrive in Accra at 8:40am. Transfer to our hotel in Tema, after clearing customs and immigration. Afternoon visit to the W.E.B DuBois Center for Pan Africanism, established in his memory for his dedication to Pan Africanism”. This museum was the house where Dr. DuBois lived and started his research for the production of Encyclopedia Africana. Dr. Dubois passed away on August 28, 1963, at the age of 95. His body is laid to rest on the compound of the center. We’ll next visit the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum (a memorial park dedicated to the memory of the first President of Ghana). Return to the hotel. Early breakfast and depart for Kumasi, capital of the Asante Kingdom. On our way we’ll visit the three famous Ashanti craft villages for shopping and also witness craft making demonstrations - Ahwiaa, the woodcarvers’ village; Ntonso, the home of Adindra; and Bonwire, the Kente weaving village. These visits will afford you an opportunity to see how African crafts are made and to buy directly from the artisans who make them. Return to the hotel. Dinner. Overnight. Accommodation: Miklin Hotel or similar Meals: Breakfast/Dinner Day 7: FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 12: – KUMASI: Visit the Royal Palace Museum of the Ashanti Kings & the Kedjetia Market for Shopping. Breakfast at leisure. Late morning departure for a tour of the Manyhia Palace. This Palace was built by the British in 1925 to receive Prempeh I when he returned from a quarter of a century of exile in the Seychelles to resume residence in Kumasi. It was used by the Ashanti kings until 1974; the current Asantehene now lives in a modern compound behind the museum. On display is the original furniture and assorted royal memorabilia. After lunch (Not included), we’ll proceed to the Kedjetia market for shopping. Kedjetia is believed to be one of the largest markets in West Africa. Return to the hotel. Dinner. Prepare for the next day trip to Cape Coast/Elimina-Central Region. Overnight Accommodation: Miklin Hotel or similar Meals: Breakfast/Dinner Day 8: SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 13 – KUMASI/CAPE COAST-ELMINA Tour the Elmina Slave Castle. Early breakfast and depart for historical Central Region. Arrive and check into our ocean front hotel. Afternoon tour of the Elmina Slave Castle (the oldest slave castle in West Africa). Be part of an emotional late afternoon tour of the slave dungeons and pass through the “Door of No Return” (the final exit to the slave ships on the high seas). Many who walk through these compounds of physical cruelties and torture chambers, can almost feel the presence of the slaves, in their iron shackles and hear voices from the past as they cry out in anguish. The experience would send chills down your spine and leave an indelible mark on your conscience. Back to the hotel. Dinner. Overnight. Accommodation: Coconut Grove Beach Resort or similar Meals: Breakfast/Dinner 3 Page 3/ Day 9: SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 14 – CAPE COAST-ELMINA: Visit the Cape Coast Slave Castle & Otuam, King Peggy’s Village. Breakfast and depart for a visit to the Cape Coast Slave Castle. While this Salve Castle also played a major role as the holding dungeon for slaves, it is famous because it was where Yaa Asantewa, the Ashanti Queen Warrior was imprisoned until her trip to exile in the Seychelles, where she died in October 27 1921. We’ll continue to the village of Otuam to visit King Peggy’s constituency and interact with the elders of the Royal stool. Return to the hotel. Dinner. Prepare for the next day trip to Accra.
