Mr. Turner attended Emory College at Oxford and was a classmate of Bishop Warren A. Candler. Emory Libraries provides copies of its finding aids for use only in research and private study. Copies supplied may not be copied for others or otherwise distributed without prior consent of the holding repository. Louise Turner Jones Papers, 1919-1980 Manuscript Collection No. 084 Scope and Content Note The Louise Turner Jones Papers contain correspondence and other miscellaneous items that relate primarily to Bishop Warren Akin Candler, a close fried of Mrs. Jones’ father, George Pierce Turner. There are letters from Candler to Mrs. Jones (then Louise Turner) and other family members that date from 1919-1934. The collection also contains correspondence from Mrs. Jones to Mr. Gregory in the Emory University Development Office written in April and May of 1980. These letters include personal anecdotes about Bishop Candler. Miscellaneous items include photocopies of Mrs. Jones’ and her brother’s marriage certificates and photocopies of the obituaries of family members Ann Maria Waldron Pierce, wife of Methodist bishop George Foster Pierce, and Sarah Clayton Turner Pierce, wife of Lovick Pierce. Lovick Pierce was the only son of Bishop and Mrs. Pierce and a prominent minister in the North Georgia Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South.
