It is the first time a Daytona pitcher has received a monthly honor dating back to 2005. Proctor is the second Tortugas player to receive an end-of-the-month award and the first since 2B Shed Long was named Florida State League Player of the Month in May of 2017. #17 Leo Seminati #18 Míchel Triana #20 Stevie Branche #21 Jake Gozzo #23 Ranser Amador #25 Garrett Wolforth During the season’s opening month, Proctor paced the minors with a microscopic 0.45 ERA (1 ER in .231, 4 HR, 14 RBI .256, 1 HR, 16 RBI 3-0, 4.62 ERA, 1 SV, 49 SO 3-3, 6.19 ERA, 15 SO .256, 1 HR, 3 RBI .235, 4 HR, 20 RBI 20.0 IP) in five appearances and four starts. The 22-year-old accumulated an unblemished 2-0 record with only nine hits and two runs (one earned) allowed in addition to only six walks and 30 strikeouts. Proctor, 22, is in his first professional season and was signed by the Cincinnati Reds as an undrafted free agent on June 21, 2020, out of Princeton University. His grandfather, Jim, made Major League pitching appearances with the Detroit Tigers in 1959 and actu- ally pitched in the old Florida State League in 1955 for the West Palm Beach Indians. His uncle, Mike, was also an Ivy League graduate, playing baseball at Cornell University in upstate New #28 Justin Gomez #29 Reyny Reyes #30 Frainger Aranguren #31 Juan Abril #34 Vin Timpanelli #35 Miguel Medrano York in the late 1980’s. .000, 0 HR, 0 RBI .236, 1 HR, 10 RBI 2-4, 3.76 ERA, 20 SO 1-1, 6.75 ERA, 25 SO 0-1, 2.04 ERA, 4 SV, 25 SO 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 5 SO Proctor is also very familiar with Daytona pitching coach Forrest Herrmann. The St. Louis, Mo. native met Forrest as a sophomore in high school at a training facility both frequented. After Herrmann fin- ished his collegiate playing career at Evansville University, he joined the facility full-time and became Proctor’s personal pitching coach. On Saturday, May 22, Proctor was the facilitator of the second no-hitter in Tortugas history at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. The right-hander hoisted 5.0 hitless innings against the Jupiter Hammerheads — issuing only two baserunners on a walk and hit-by-pitch in the fourth — to accompany 11 strikeouts. RHP Vin Timpanelli, RHP Ricky Karcher, RHP Nick Hanson, and RHP Carson Spiers combined to complete #40 José Franco #45 Brett Lockwood #49 Ian Koch #52 Manuel Cachutt #99 James Marinan the 1-0 no-hitter, Daytona’s first since RHP Tyler Mahle tossed a complete game no-hitter at Jupiter on 1-1, 7.85 ERA, 15 SO 0-0, 3.60 ERA, 19 SO 1-0, 7.20 ERA, 9 SO 0-1, 6.14 ERA, 10 SO 0-1, 9.00 ERA, 6 SO June 13, 2016. Proctor’s 11 strikeouts that night marked the second-most from a Daytona pitcher since the franchise rebranded prior to the 2015 season. The St. Louis, Mo. native’s performance was the best since LHP Amir Garrett whiffed 12 at Jackie Robinson Ballpark on May 30, 2015, against the Clearwater Thresh- ers. During the season’s first month, Proctor led all Low-A Southeast pitchers in earned run average (0.45). He was also tied for second in fewest hits allowed (9), third in fewest walks permitted (6), and third in strikeouts (30). #44 Gookie Dawkins #99 Forrest Herrmann #38 Darryl Brinkley #43 Dick Schofield #48 Reggie Williams Wade Hebrink: TRAINER MANAGER PITCHING COACH HITTING COACH DEVELOPMENT COACH DEVELOPMENT COACH Kyle Laughlin: STRENGTH CINCINNATI REDS AROUND THE FARM TRIPLE-A (EAST) LOUISVILLE BATS DOUBLE-A (SOUTH) CHATTANOOGA LOOKOUTS HIGH-A (CENTRAL) DAYTON DRAGONS LOW-A (SOUTHEAST) DAYTONA TORTUGAS ARIZONA COMPLEX LEAGUE ACL REDS SINK YOUR TEETH INTO THIS LINEUP!
