Page 3 NEWS ~ NEW ~ Ride and Stride - Supporting the Historic Churches of Dorset including ours -12th September 2020 An annual fixture in every parish is the Ride & Stride event to raise funds for the Dorset Historic Churches Trust. Its aim is to help to keep our beautiful Dorset churches maintained by giving grants for repairs eg. to roofs, prevent water leakages etc. We are looking for individuals, families and bubbles to not only take part, but also to welcome riders and striders to our churches on the 12th, socially distancing of course! Please contact your Church Wardens if you want to help in anyway, including sponsoring the riders and striders. ~ NEW ~ Advance Notice - Annual Parochial Church Meetings These will be held as follows: 17th September - St Nicholas Durweston at 7pm 20th September - St Peter, Pimperne at 12 Noon (after Sunday Service) 26th October - Holy Trinity, Stourpaine at 7pm More information in next week’s Pews News Pimperne Village School Letter Link – Reminder! We would like to create a link between the Worshippers at St Peter's Church and the children at Pimperne school. The idea is for you to write a letter or post card that will be sent to the school. The children will reply by sending a picture or a letter to be displayed in Church. This is a guide for your correspondence, but you don't have to stick to it – When I was your age my favourite Bible story was ..................... My school was in the village/city/town..................... I walked ?? miles to school every day My favourite lesson was ..................... My favourite game was..................... My best friend was..................... My school day started with assembly every morning ..................... The thing I liked most about school was ....................... You get the idea? You may sign it with your name but please only show your address as Pimperne or Blandford Forum. We want to start a 'conversation' between the school children and the church. They are very interested in how things were for you when you were their age. It can be short or long. Entirely up to you. We would like to send these letters to the school this September so they can read them when they settle back in and know that we are still thinking about them. I can arrange to collect your letter and then take them all to the school for the start of term. For more info call or text Jacqui Torrance on 07950 753320 or leave a message on 480713, or email [email protected] Page 4 ~ Amended ~ Opening of Churches for Private Prayer. The churches of St Peter, St Nicholas and Holy Trinity are open on Thursday mornings from 10am to Noon and also on Sundays from 11am to 4pm.
