June 13Th Online Pre-K Lesson

th June 13 Online Pre-K Lesson Series Overview: Leaders take the lead. Like a drum major leading a marching band or a grand marshal at a parade, leaders are out in front showing others the way. Legendary leaders of the Bible like Deborah, Gideon, Samson, and Ruth will help kids see what leadership looks like and how they can become great leaders too. Young leaders will grow this month learning that God gives them courage to lead, helps them learn from mistakes, and gives them leaders I can follow. In Christ, anyone can be a leader, so let’s take the lead together. Bible Story: Gideon: Judges 7 Big Idea: God gives me courage to lead. Series Memory Verse: “And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” –Micah 6:8 Lesson Guide: 1. Dance and sing with your child to these songs. Show this video to teach the Bible story. https://vimeo.com/544700314/38fda080db 3. Review the Bible story like this: *Supplies = Bible Open up the Bible to Judges 7 to show your kids where today’s story comes from. Who was today’s Bible Story about? (Gideon) See if they have questions or interesting points about the story from the video they just watched. Today we learned that Gideon was full of fear when God called him to lead His people. Gideon grew in His trust of God and faced His fears by surrendering to and obeying God completely. Would you have been scared if you were Gideon going into battle without very many soldiers? How do you act when you are scared? Do you scream, run away, freeze, or something else? When we feel afraid, who can we talk to? How can you be brave this week? Remember, just like God gave Gideon courage, God gives me courage to lead. 4. Bible Story Review Activity: *Supplies= a ball Make a circle with chairs or toys, etc. around you and your kid(s) Get a light ball inside the circle. Explain that the ball is going to represent our fears during this game. While music plays, pass the ball back and forth with everyone inside the circle. Pause the music at random intervals and, each time you do so, shout, "Get that fear outta here!" Tell the person who was holding the ball when the music stopped to toss the ball out of the circle. What are some things that scare you? What do you do to not be scared anymore? Everyone has fears, even leaders like Gideon that we heard about today. When we choose to trust and obey God even though we are scared God helps us to be brave and we often end up doing something amazing! God gives us courage to lead! 5. Memory Verse Practice: *Supplies = Bible, household items to make a pretend torch Look up Micah 6:8 in the Bible and read it to your family. You ask the question part of the verse each time (And what does the Lord require of you?, and then have your kids respond with the rest of the verse and doing the motions from this video: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ifa5y7ckb4wxhxa/JuneMemVerseMotions.MOV?dl=0 Make a pretend torch with your child. It can look like the one above with a toilet paper roll or paper towel roll (or you could roll up a piece a paper and tape it) and tissue paper OR just use what you have…even if it isn’t the correct colors- just give your kid something they can pretend is a torch. Tell you child, Gideon and his army didn't fight the Midianites with the usual weapons – the Bible says they charged with trumpets (like we made last week), torches, and jars. When Gideon's army stormed the enemy camp, they all shouted, "For God and Gideon!" Let's all pretend we are all members of Gideon's army today. When I say make a trumpet noise, everyone yell, "For God and Gideon!" Hold up your torch and make as much noise as you can! After that, set up a course for your child to complete while holding the torch high in one of their hand. You could have them crawl to a certain line, then weave through a few chairs and then run back to their line shouting, “For God and Gideon.” Say the memory verse with your child in order to start the course and also when they finish it each time. Tell the kids that one way we can have courage in the face of fears is by walking humbly with our God – remembering that He is with us and that He can help us! 6. Pray with your family. .
