SHED NEWS The Newsletter of the Crows Supporters Group – February 2019 THOUGHT FOR THE MONTH – “You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” KEEP ON SUPPORTING! from our President Peter Kauschke Hello everyone and welcome to season 2019. The year kicked off with our assistance at the “CROWS FAN FAIR” in January. We were unable to have our usual sausage sizzle this year as the Club arranged for food vans to be present. However, we were able to sell our merchandise and photos and to sign people up for membership of the Group. Thank you to all of our committee members and volunteers who assisted with the day. Well done everyone. A wonderful effort in the heat! Banner has now commenced at our new ‘home’, the Christian Family Centre, 185 Fredrick Road, Seaton. Everyone is always welcome to come along, have a look at how it all happens and join in the fun. Work at the moment is mainly on the banners for our AFLW team. The AFLW season is well underway and there was a good turnout of enthusiastic supporters at Norwood for the girls’ first game. Unfortunately, it was not the desired result for us. The Crows girls played great footy but sadly they could not kick straight on the night, and this cost them a valuable win over last season’s premiers. Our Vice President, Tony Trist, has been working his fingers to the bone to get our website up and running and it is amazing. Well worth having a look at and exploring it at length. Details of this are in Tony’s report further on in the Shed News. NEW TREASURER Unfortunately, Chris Pugliese was unable to continue in his position of Treasurer, so we called for applications, and we thank those who enquired about the position and applied. Our congratulations go to Elizabeth Trist, who was elected to take up the position at our February meeting on 4th of February. We welcome Liz to our committee and wish her luck in this position and I look forward to working with her and the rest of the committee in the coming season. Please stay safe fellow Crows Supporters Group members, and we hope to see you all in the near future. EDITOR’S VIEW by Jenny Smart SEASON 2019 – Getting excited? I am starting to. Last season was rather a strange one for everyone in our club. At times there seemed to be a ‘cloud’ hanging over our boys throughout 2018. However, judging by reports and photos coming out of the Club, things have changed. I don’t think I have ever seen the boys looking so happy. Hopefully a good omen ahead of a good season. Get your red, blue and gold gear ready, as well as your voices. Season 2019 is almost upon us! PORT PIRIE BUS If you can’t wait for the ‘real stuff’, The Crows Supporters Group are sending a bus to Port Pirie for the JLT Community match between Adelaide Crows and Port Power on Saturday 2nd March. The price of the bus will be $35 for members and $45 for non-members. The bus will depart at 11:00am from AAMI Stadium and return straight after the game to AAMI Stadium. You can book a seat on the bus via our website here: https://www.crows.com.au ,or alternatively you can contact the Vice President Tony Trist on 0406 472 997 or via email at [email protected]. FAMILY FAN FAIR DAY I wasn’t able to get to the Fun Fair Day held by the Club at Wayville Showgrounds but looking at the photos, I can tell that it must have been a lot of fun for the young ones. Hot, but a lot of fun! Members of your Committees manned the stall selling merchandise, signing up new members and everything else we were called on to do. Unfortunately, we were unable to have a sausage sizzle as we have done for many years, as the Club decided to have food trucks. VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT by Tony Trist Well it’s been a long time coming, but finally it’s here! The NEW Crows Supporters Group Website! The website can be used to purchase merchandise and book bus trips. It also has a great calendar that can sync with your mobile phone or tablet. The calendar contains all AFLW and AFL games as well as events that the CSG put on; this way you won’t miss anything. There are links to our Facebook albums, the Constitution, By-Laws and Membership Forms. We are also looking at going digital with the Shed News and Annual Magazine and there are links to the latest editions on the website. Hopefully soon you will be able to place an order to reserve a ticket for any interstate games. Keep a lookout on the website and our Facebook page for details. There is also a contact form, so please send us feedback on the website. SECRETARY/MEMBERSHIP REPORT by Julie Elliott How wonderful was the atmosphere at the AFLW match at Norwood in that first game! If you haven’t been to any of the women’s games, I’d like to encourage you to attend; they are family events and I always have a great time, win or lose. I’m looking forward to the JLT game in Port Pirie too and hope to see many of our members at the game. I always have membership forms with me if you bring a non-CSG member along and they are interested in joining up, or if you need one yourself. A reminder that memberships for 2019 are now open. You can now complete your form and make payment via our website. If you aren’t internet savvy, please feel free to post your form to The Secretary, Crows Supporters Group, PO Box 7228, West Lakes SA 5021 and include your payment. Forms and payment will also be received at banner night. Our monthly Shed News will continue to be sent out via email, but if you would prefer to receive it via “snail mail”, please don’t forget to add $12 for the year to your payment. Thank you to those who have already sent in your membership forms, I already have a lot of work to do, which is fantastic. The club have already provided our membership cards for 2019 and your membership packs will be available every Tuesday at banner night or, once the season starts, in the Magarey Room after every game. If neither of these options are possible, please add postage to your membership payment or call me to make alternate arrangements (I am willing to take a few packs to the women’s games and interstate by prior arrangement.) Please note that if your ticket is not in the Cheer Squad bay, that for interstate games, the club has advised us you will need to show your CSG membership ticket to security to gain entrance to the Bay.
