This film festival honors her life-long passion for the arts. Sandy Dennis 1937-1992 Sandy Dennis was a brilliant actress whose work spanned three decades. She appeared in 26 movies, 12 Broadway shows, and countless regional productions. Born in Hastings, she lived in Kenesaw for a year or two, and graduated high school and attended two semesters of college in Lincoln. A starring role in a community theatre production marked the start of her career. In addition to her work as an actress and her Nebraska heritage, she was well-known for her love of animals. Dennis died from ovarian cancer at her home in Westport, Connecticut, at age 54.
