Agenda Item No. 8 Appendix A Chanctonbury County Local Committee Infrastructure Plan Prioritisation Infrastructure Plan Proposed Priorities: • Steyning - improvements to improve safety at the junction of A283 Steyning Bypass with Horsham Road, going into/from Steyning and into/from Ashurst. • Bramber - The Street (o/s St Marys House) and near car park access. Traffic Management (Alternations) - Removal of two speed bumps, plus a chicane with raised road surface level and a narrowed road entrance together with a smoothing of the other bumps considered too high with traffic vibrations from buses. • Ashington - Install a VAS at the entrance to the village on Billingshurst Rd. plus anti skid surfacing on the bend at Spears Hill. • Amberley – Extension of 40mph speed limit eastwards on The Turnpike to approximately the far side of the football field and install 'Gateways'. • Henfield - Installation of a speed indication device on London Road. • Henfield - Gateway Features and road safety points on the B2116 at Backlands. • Thakeham – New footpath– Storrington Road B2139, eastside between, just north of the southern junction with Crescent Rise – new section of footway by shop frontages to provide continuous north/south pedestrian link. • Pulborough – Lower Street Regeneration Scheme – Support the delivery of highway associated works, including the potential introduction of revised waiting restrictions. • Pulborough - New Railway line Footbridge (A29) London Road - progress any preferred option in line with feasibility study recommendations. Items highlighted for future Infrastructure Plan Prioritisation and/or to be progressed in other ways: • Ashington - Review parking issues at Church Lane / Foster Lane and put together scheme to improve. • Ashington - Review Meiros Way/Rectory Lane junction priorities. • Ashington - Review Hole Street slip roads. • Ashington – London Road (granite setts cause noise and vibration, in poor state of repair, and require frequent maintenance). • Ashington – The Sands, Rectory Lane & Church Lane (excessive ramping on speed humps and poor drainage). • Bramber - Footway/ Cycle Path - Completion of the Castle Lane bypass routes along the A283 Steyning Bypass from the Bramber roundabout to the Castle Lane crossing. Bramber. • Bramber - “Make the Commitment” Posters – Supporting the 30 mph speed limit along Clays Hill to help remind drivers of the new limit. • Bramber - Pedestrian, Cyclists and Equestrians Crossing Facility - for the Downs Link over the A283 Bramber Bypass. Bramber. • Cowfold - A281 South of Cowfold - Consideration to reduce speed limit between Shermanbury and Cowfold from 60mph to 50mph. • Cowfold - A272 Road through Cowfold Village – Wear to surface and bad air quality due to high traffic volume. Consideration to re pitch • Henfield – Installation of Permanent Speed Indication Device, London Road (for southbound traffic. • Henfield – Route Safety Improvements - Road Safety Improvements B2116 Albourne Road. • Henfield – New Gateway Features - on approaches to Henfield Village settlement. • Steyning – Junction Improvement - A283 Steyning Bypass with Horsham Road, Steyning. • Henfield - Waiting restriction at junction of Tottington Drive and Shoreham Road in Small Dole. • Pulborough - Extension of 30mph limit to Codmore Hill • Pulborough - Consider Rectory Lane for Homezone treatment. • Pulborough - A29 Church Hill and Sopers Hill – progress any preferred option in line with feasibility study recommendations. • Pulborough - Pocket Park (between New Place Road and Recreation Ground) – Resurface existing public footpaths (FP3500), and provide a raised pedestrian walkway. • Steyning - Bramber Road/Penlands Way junction - entrance too straight and too narrow for usage. Penlands Way by Catholic Church often obstructed by other vehicles, Steyning. • Steyning - Concerns regarding narrow pavement – High Street, Steyning. • Steyning- Accidents A283 Steyning bypass – suggestions to improve road safety 1. Reduce the speed limit, 2. A westbound deceleration lane into Canons Way, 3. A mini roundabout. • Storrington & Sullington – 20 mph Speed Limit Pulborough Road between the junction with Clay Lane to the west and Newtown Road/Hurston Lane junction to the east. • Thakeham – provide a safe and direct off road alternative commuter route for pedestrian and cyclists between Storrington and Abingworth (to avoid Storrington Road (B2139) avoiding Jackets Hill), Pulborough. • Woodmancote - Bridleway scheme opposite the junction of the B2116 and Blackstone Lane. • Upper Beeding - Change speed limit to 30mph on the A2037 Henfield Road, Upper Beeding. • West Chiltington - Consideration for upgrade to Bridleway 2412/1 and 2412 - Mill Road and East Street, West Chiltington. • Wiston - Issues of speeding traffic and a lack of footpath in Hole Street. • The introduction of 20's Plenty, subject to public consultation within various settlements across the Chanctonbury County Local Committee area. .
