Lace Knitting

Lace Knitting

Lace Knitting Taught by Janet English Do you want to make beautiful open work knitted projects but always thought it was too complicated? Janet will demystify the techniques of the trade and show you how to read both patterns and charts to begin your newest knitting addiction. We will explore the various techniques of Lace knitting. How to read a pattern, how to accomplish each kind of stitch, and how to knit in the round and flat. We will look at any pattern you may like to tackle and help answer any questions you may have with it. Lace can be inserted into any garment from socks to sweaters, shawls and pillows. Boarder trims can be made separately and added to almost anything. We will look at a scarf and how it hangs softly but still retains its shape. This will determine what fiber content might work best and help find just the right yarn to use for your project. We will start our class with creating a leaf boarder that incorporates several different stitches and Yarn Over holes. We will look at the ways of adding yarns and hiding our ends. You should leave the class feeling more confident and ready to tackle a lace knitting project. We may have time to get a good section of leaf boarder completed too. Please bring to class: Size 3 needles, circular at least 16" Fingerling weight yarn in any color, 1 skein appropriate for edging or trim.
