Cadw Plas Carew, Unit 5/7 Cefn Coed Parc Nantgarw, Cardiff CF15 7QQ Dear, ATISN 14518 – Financial Impact on Cadw – COVID-19 Thank you for your request which I received on Wednesday 4 November 2020. You requested information as follows: What additional costs has Covid19 had on the operation of Cadw? How much income has Cadw lost as a result of Covid19? The response to your request is as follows: What additional costs has Covid19 had on the operation of Cadw? Additional costs incurred from 1 April 2020 to the end of October amounted to £220,000. This included the costs of barriers and signage, screens, consumables such as PPE and sanitisers, additional cleaning costs, some security costs to ensure that social distancing measures were adhered to, and additional expenditure on our capital works programme as a result of delays due to Covid19. How much income has Cadw lost as a result of Covid19? Cadw’s total commercial income for the period from 1 April to the end of October 2020 amounted to £919,000. The equivalent figure for 1 April to 31 October 2019 was £6,692,000. The reduction in income compared to the previous year was therefore £5,773,000. We also estimate that we lost income of some £200,000 in the period from 17 March 2020 (the date we closed sites) to the end of March 2020. The total income lost to the end of October, by comparing to the figures in the previous year, is therefore estimated at £5,973,000, and can be attributed to the impact of Covid19. If you are dissatisfied with the Welsh Government’s handling of your request, you can ask for an internal review within 40 working days of the date of this response. Requests for an internal review should be addressed to the Welsh Government’s Freedom of Information Officer at: Information Rights Unit Welsh Government, Cathays Park Cardiff, CF10 3NQ [email protected] Please remember to quote the ATISN reference number above. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at: Information Commissioner’s Office Wycliffe House Water Lane Wilmslow Cheshire SK9 5AF However, please note that the Commissioner will not normally investigate a complaint until it has been through our own internal review process. Yours sincerely .
