INTRODUCTION More philosophically, it may be supposed that the present as experience of a time is precisely that moment when different forms of absence become entangled [s’enchevêtrent]: absence of those presences that are no longer here and that one remembers (memory [la mémoire]), and absence of those others who are not here yet and are anticipated (utopia).
