2020 Recycle Right 'Upcycling Art Competition'

2020 Recycle Right ‘Upcycling Art Competition’ A lot of everyday items that we use and throw away end up in landfill or polluting our oceans. Transforming waste into art is a great way to ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’. During National Science Week (15- 23 August), we’d like to encourage all primary school classes within Fremantle, East Fremantle and Melville to take part in the 2020 Recycle Right Upcycling Art Competition. Here is our challenge for schools! Classrooms choose a common waste item, waste stream or multiple waste items and make an art display that shows the item/items in a fun and creative way. Send us two (2) photos of your art sculpture along with a one-page summary about the display including: • How this item is made and what resources are used in the process. • What happens to the item if it is not recycled properly (i.e. plastic water bottles ending up in the ocean or in landfill) • Work out how the item could be avoided, reduced, reused, or replaced with a more sustainable option (i.e. reusable drink bottle, rechargeable batteries, reusable bag, keep cup). Art Sculptures will be judged on their creativity, uniqueness, maximum use of recycled products and ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ message. We will select three (3) winners (one (1) from each age category) from the competing schools and the prizes will include Recycle Right reusable bags and a gift voucher. 2020 Recycle Right ‘Upcycling Art Competition’ How to enter: 1.
