Project Brief Issue: Human Resource Development (Education) Scheme: Grant Aid Project Title: Improvement of Teachers' Retraining in the Secondary Specialized and Vocational Education in the Republic of Uzbekistan Duration: 2003 - 2005 Uzbek Counterpart: The Center of Secondary Specialized Professional (Vocational) Education (CSSVE) under the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education (MHSSE). Project Goal: is improving equipment of the Institute for Development of Senior Secondary Vocational Education (IDSSVE) and other related organizations including the CSSVE, it’s branches and 9 professional colleges (PCs) selected as teachers’ retraining centers, so that the quality of professional education in the senior secondary level, as required in the National Program for Personnel Training (NPPT), would be enhanced through the improvement of teachers’ retraining. Total Grant Amount: 6.5 million USD Inputs from Japanese Side: Procurement of equipment for 9 professional colleges* Procurement of mini printing house for IDSSVE. Inputs from Uzbek Side: Counterpart personnel, Project site. Results: 9 Professional colleges were equipped with the “dual purpose” (for training students and re-training of the teachers) equipment and Regional Centers of Advanced Training and Re-training for Teachers were organized on their basis; Mini printing house was supplied to the Institute of Development of Secondary Special Vocational Education / Institute for Capacity Building and Re-training of the Personnel of the Secondary Specialized Education System (ICBRPSSES). Training/educational materials, such as registry journals, manuals, brochures, journals are designed and published using project’s equipment.
