Mercy College, through generous gifts from individuals, friends, and alumni, as well as academic, professional and business organizations, is pleased to offer institutional scholarships. The purpose of these scholarships is to give recognition and support to academically strong students attending Mercy College. Please visit the Mercy College web site (www.mercycollege.edu/scholarships) for up-to-date scholarship information and to fill out an online application. The deadline to apply is February 28th. We recommend you complete your FAFSA (www.fafsa.gov) by the scholarship deadline of February 28th so that you can be considered for the need based scholarships. Only one application is necessary to be considered for any of the scholarship opportunities listed. Mercy College Academic Scholarships (no scholarship application necessary) March 1st priority acceptance date **For Fall 2021 – ACT/SAT testing is optional** Mercy Academic Scholarship (Toledo) This scholarship was established to help direct from high school students who attend Mercy College full-time in a degree program. Eligibility: • Full-time direct from high school students with a minimum 3.0 high school GPA and 20 or higher ACT or 1030 or higher SAT score. • Maintain a minimum 3.0 college GPA each semester. • Part-time students are not eligible. • Any Toledo degree accepted student. Amount: • $2500.00 per semester Mercy Dean’s Scholarship (Toledo) This scholarship was established to assist direct from high school students who attend Mercy College full-time in a degree program. Eligibility: • Full-time direct from high school students with a minimum 3.5 high school GPA and 23 or higher ACT or 1140 or higher SAT score. • Maintain a minimum 3.0 college GPA each semester. • Part-time students are not eligible. • Any Toledo degree accepted student. • Award cannot be combined with Mercy Academic Scholarship. Amount: • $3500.00 per semester Mercy Presidential Scholarship (Toledo) This scholarship was established to assist direct from high school students who attend Mercy College full-time in a degree program. Eligibility: • Full-time direct from high school students with a minimum 3.85 high school GPA and 25 or higher ACT or 1210 or higher SAT score. • Maintain a minimum 3.0 college GPA each semester. • Part-time students are not eligible. • Any Toledo degree accepted student. • Award cannot be combined with Mercy Academic or Dean’s scholarships. Amount: • 100% tuition and fees per semester – excludes health insurance and books Mercy Alumni Dependent Scholarship (Toledo & Youngstown) This scholarship was established for dependents of Alumni of Mercy College of Ohio. The dependent must be a first-year student (never attended college) within one year of high school graduation. This scholarship cannot be combined with the Mercy Presidential Scholarship. Eligibility: • Student must be accepted to Mercy College of Ohio in one of the following programs o Biology Degree o Health Science Associate Degree o Nursing (Associate or Bachelor Pre-Licensure) o Radiology Associate Degree • High school GPA must be 2.7 or higher. • Must complete FAFSA & provide written statement from Alumni to document dependency status • Maintain a minimum 3.0 college GPA each semester. Amount: • $1500.00 per semester Mercy Transfer Student Scholarship (Toledo) This scholarship was established to help students who have attended college before and are transferring to Mercy College for the first time in a degree program. Eligibility: • Student must be accepted to Mercy College of Ohio in either an Associate or Bachelor’s degree program offered at the Toledo campus. Student must be program ready, not General College. • Transfer GPA must be 3.0 or higher. • Student must enroll for at least 6 or more credit hours. • Maintain a minimum 3.0 college GPA each semester. Amount: 2 | P a g e • $500.00 per semester Mercy Certificate Scholarship (Toledo) This scholarship was established to assist credit-bearing certificate program students who attend Mercy College. Eligibility: • New Mercy College accepted student into one of the following eligible certificate programs: o Community Health Worker o Medical Coding o Ophthalmic Assistant o Paramedic o Polysomnographic Technology • Either a 3.0 transfer GPA or 3.0 high school GPA for students who never attended College before. • Maintain a minimum 3.0 college GPA each semester. Amount: • $500.00 per semester Mercy Health Foundation-Greater Toledo Scholarships (scholarship application required by February 28th deadline) Ashel and Dorothy Bryan Endowed Scholarship (Toledo) This endowed scholarship fund was established in 1998 by Mr. and Mrs. Ashel Bryan to recognize academic excellence and help students in financial need. Highest consideration is given to students who demonstrate a commitment to the College’s motto of compassion and caring and have the greatest financial need. Criteria to Apply: • Current Mercy College student • 3.0 GPA • Submit scholarship application • Completed FAFSA on file with the Financial Aid Office by February 28th to determine financial need Audrey Heschel McCue Memorial Scholarship (Toledo) This scholarship was established by the family and friends of Audrey McCue after her death in September 2010. A native of Fremont, Ohio, Audrey graduated from the Mercy School of Nursing in 1944. A devoted wife and mother, Audrey was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fremont. Criteria to Apply: • Must be a graduate of Fremont St. Joseph Central Catholic High School who is entering Mercy College as a freshman pursuing an Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) • 3.0 GPA • Submit scholarship application 3 | P a g e Bachelor of Science in Biology Scholarship Fund (Toledo) The scholarship is given to a Bachelor of Science in Biology student in good standing. Selection criteria are academic standing in the program and financial need. The scholarship is to be used for tuition and fees. Funding for the award is from annual gifts received in support of the scholarship. Criteria to Apply: • Declared major in Biology, • Successfully completed the first year of courses in the Biology major or more, • 3.0 GPA • Completed FAFSA on file with the Financial Aid Office by February 28th to determine financial need • Submit scholarship application Becky A. Kelley-Robarge Endowed Scholarship for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program (Toledo) This scholarship was established in memory of Becky Kelley-Robarge, Dean of Academic Affairs at Mercy College of Northwest Ohio from 1992 to 2000. Becky was also a Nursing Instructor at the Mercy School of Nursing and was instrumental in the establishment of the College. Criteria to Apply: • New enrollee seeking a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree • 3.0 GPA • Submit scholarship application • Completed FAFSA on file with the Financial Aid Office by February 28th to determine financial need Beverly J. Kummer-Lower Endowed Scholarship Fund for the Radiologic Technology Associate Degree Program (Toledo) This endowed scholarship was established as a memorial to Beverly J. Kummer-Lower by her family and friends. She served as Program Coordinator of the Radiologic Technology Program at Mercy College starting in 1998. As Coordinator, Beverly oversaw the successful transition of the St. Vincent School two-year program to an Associate of Science Degree program at Mercy College. Criteria to Apply: • Student seeking an Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology • 3.0 GPA • Submit scholarship application • Completed FAFSA on file with the Financial Aid Office by February 28th to determine financial need Champion for Children (C4C) Scholarship Fund (Toledo) The mission of Champions for Children (CFC) Giving Circle is to optimize the opportunity for its members to collectively pool their philanthropic resources to positively impact the future of healthcare for the children being treated at Mercy Health Children’s Hospital and its affiliates and to support Mercy College of Ohio students through scholarship support. 4 | P a g e Criteria to Apply: • ASN or BSNP final semester student at Mercy College of Ohio, Toledo campus • 3.0 GPA • Submit scholarship application • Completed FAFSA on file with the Financial Aid Office by February 28th to determine financial need Debbie H. McCoy Scholarship (Toledo) Debbie H. McCoy began her career at Mercy College of Northwest Ohio in 1993 and was named the Coordinator of the Associate Degree Nursing Program in 1999. Debbie graduated from Ohio State in 1978 and received her Master’s Degree from the Medical College of Ohio (MCO). She was a staff nurse at MCO, the Lucas County Health Department, and Mercy Hospital, prior to becoming an assistant professor at Mercy College. Criteria to Apply: • Current ASN student who has successfully completed all first level nursing courses and is eligible to begin the second level of the nursing program • 3.0 GPA • Demonstrated evidence of clinical competence as validated in two letters of recommendation from previous clinical instructors • Submit a scholarship application • Completed FAFSA on file with the Financial Aid Office by February 28th to determine financial need Fifth Third Bank Scholarship (Toledo and Youngstown) This scholarship is funded by the Fifth Third Bank. This scholarship will be awarded to new or current students with demonstrated financial need.
