The thumb and middle finger of the other hand are touching. The Bodhisattva is dressed in a dhoti with decorative waistband and adorned with different jewellery and an opulent tiara with stone inlay. The body is covered in scales and the limbs are slender in nature. The mouth is opened and bears a beak-like shape with beard-hair on the chin. The eyes are squinted and the dragon seems to be roaring or snarling. Two horns are shaped to the back from the front head and on top of its head is a lotus bud. Sitting dragons are extremely rare. The Buddha is forming the bhumispharsa mudra and is seated with legs crossed, dressed in a robe covering the right shoulder. The round face is framed by elongated earlobes, a gentle smile is playing the lips and the eyes are downcast. A beaded line sets of the curly hair topped by the ushnisha. The back of the statue is flattened. The throne is decorated with incisions. The Buddha is forming the dharmachakra mudra, the turning of the chakra wheel. A sash with dotted pattern covers his right shoulder, he is slightly leaning to the back with a smiling face, eyes downcast but open. Elongated earlobes frame the face, the black curls cover the head and ushnisha and a third eye spots the centre of the front head. The serpent head of Naga forms a protective shield from the back over Buddha's head. The mouse his vehicle or vahana sitting on his right side. With four arms holding the noose, hatchet, sweets and another object. The trunk is hanging down slightly coiled into the left side. Ganesha is wearing a high headdress. 10 SITTING BUDDHA MAITREYA 600 € 800 € Bronze with several silver inlays West-Tibet or Kashmir , 10th - 11th century Dimensions: Height 15 cm by 7 cm Weight: 550,1 grams Seated Buddha of the Future on a throne supported by lions on a double reverse lotus base. His legs are crossed and his foot soles are showing upwards. He is wearing a long dhoti, a scarf around his arms and necklaces, jewellery and a crown. The eyes are wide open and worked with inlay, creating a piercing glance. With the left hand he is showing the gesture of dispensing boons, the other hand is holding something, possibly a small flask holding the liquid of immortality. He has four arms and is holding his significant attributes, the mace or gada, discus or sudarshana chakra, conch shell or shankha and lotus flower. He is wearing a high conical headdress and is dressed in a short striped dhoti, anklets, armlets and bracelets. The face's details are rubbed off, which suggests that the statue was kept close at the body as protection or a house shrine. 12 SHIVA PROTECTED BY NAGA 400 € 500 € Brass Bronze India , 18th century Dimensions: Height 20 cm Weight: 941,3 grams This statue shows Shiva's head attached on a stepped platform with broader base and decorative incisions. In front of the head is a small lingam, also representative of Shiva the destroyer. Shiva's face is smiling and his eyes are open, a thin, wavy moustache runs along his cheeks and his high eyebrows also end in a little wave. Small pendants are hanging from his ears and the face is framed by a cover and headdress. The nose is pointy and distinctive, the head is slightly leaning backwards. A three-headed serpent called Naga forms a protective hood over Shiva's head. His right chest is covered in a robe which is stylistically fanning out underneath his legs. Elongated earlobes frame the round face and the expression shows the meditative state of the Buddha. Tiny curls cover his head and ushnisha. The throne has a semi-circled shape and is set off by a band filled with small figures, animals and disciples supporting the throne.
