Projects: Ongoing o A project entitled “French translation of Iqbal’s persian poetry” was initiated in October 2011 by Dr. Saleha Nazeer on the advice of certain French scholars who remarked that since many decades no work on the French translations of Iqbal’s thought was done. The few translations that exist were found to be deviating from the main Iqbalian themes as they were carried out through secondary source and not from the original Persian/Urdu texts. The current study focuses Allama Iqbal’s thought through analysis and translations of Iqbalian texts in French. Various literary constructions and social themes that Iqbal’s poetry has addressed, are being annotated as per requirement of the translated sections so as to provide an easier comprehension of Iqbalian themes to the foreign reader with their philosophical explanations. In the first phase of the project, poetic collections from Iqbal’s “Armaghan-e-Hijaz” are currently being translated from Persian to French.
