Rising on the best- seller lists, the book proposes solutions to overcome current obstacles in health care, education, and other issues—not by big-government politicians, but by everyday American citizens. DeMint will be joined by Talk Radio 1210 WPHT’s Chris Stigall. This program will take place on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. Admission starts at $25 and is FREE for 1787 Society members. A copy of Falling in Love with America Again is included in the cost of admission. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 215-409-6700 or visiting constitutioncenter.org. A book signing with DeMint will take place after the program. This program is presented in partnership with WPHT. Falling in Love with America Again narrates DeMint’s decision to depart from what he describes as “a poisonous political environment,” and ultimately leave behind a 15-year career in public office, joining The Heritage Foundation as its president in January, 2013. DeMint asserts that in order to effect change in the current political landscape, we must throw away the idea of “politics as usual” and instead reinvigorate a love and accountability for our country through grassroots efforts at a community level driven by personal initiative. DeMint believes that smaller is better and private-sector entities such as charities—“little platoons” in the words of Edmund Burke—can be more effective and efficient than our current government. Jim DeMint served as United States Senator for South Carolina from 2005 – 2013; and United States Representative for South Carolina’s Fourth congressional district from -MORE- ADD ONE/JIM DEMINT 1999 – 2005. He holds a B.S. in communications from the University of Tennessee and a master’s degree in business administration from Clemson University. DeMint is the author of the books Now or Never: Saving America from Economic Collapse (2012), The Great American Awakening: Two Years that Changed America, Washington and Me (2011), and the best-selling Saving Freedom: We Can Stop America’s Slide into Socialism (2009). Chris Stigall is the host of “The Chris Stigall Show” on Talk Radio 1210, WPHT, which airs weekdays from 6 – 9 a.m. Prior to his arrival in Philadelphia; Stigall’s radio career began in Kansas City where he worked on-air in various music formats before transitioning to talk radio.
