Williamson starred for the University of Arkansas’ national championship team in 1994, a team that had Anderson as it’s top assistant to Nolan Richardson. During Williamson’s playing career, the Razorbacks went 85-19 and also finished as NCAA runnerup in 1995. √ PLAYING THE BEST: The Bears have certainly not shied away from competition since moving up to NCAA Division I four years ago. In the past four seasons, UCA has faced Connecticut and Ole Miss in the Hispanic Fund Classic in 2006-2007 and played at Kentucky’s Rupp Arena in 2007-08 in the 2KSports Coaches vs. Cancer tournament. Two years ago, UCA took on another SEC team in Vanderbilt at Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville as part of the Cancun Classic, then finished the tournament with two games in Cancun. That was UCA’s first ever basketball trip outside of the United States. Last year, UCA played No. 1 Kansas and perennial power Memphis among its first five opponents. √ BACK IN ACTION: UCA junior guard Mike Pouncy is back for another senior season after missing most of the past two seasons with a injury to the same foot. He played in only 13 games in 08-09 before initially injuring the foot. He reinjured it on Jan. 6, 2009 and missed the rest of that season as well. √ ROSTER LOSSES: The Bears lost two of their top four scorers from a year ago, in forward Mitch Rueter (13.1) and Chris Poellnitz (10.0), and it’s top three- point shooter in Jared Rehmel (50 three-pointers).
