Ganga Yatra ( 27th – 31st January 2020 ) Ganga Yatra - Bijnore Ganga Yatra - Ballia Bijnore to Kanpur & Ballia to Kanpur State Mission for Clean Ganga (Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply , GoUP) Ganga Yatra ( 27th – 31st January 2020 ) With a view to cleaning up the holy River Ganga, Ganga Yatra - Bijnore ensuring that both chemical and human waste do not enter it, Government of Uttar Pradesh had organised a Ganga Yatra from 27th to 31st January 2020 under the 'Namami Gange’ programme. Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Yogi Adityanath started the Yatra from Bijnore by flying a kite with the symbol of Namami Gange printed across it. While, Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Smt. Anandiben Patel flagged off the Ganga Yatra from Ballia with a speech Ganga Yatra -Ballia about conserving the Ganga River. The objective of the 5-day Yatra was to promote biodiversity and to make the villages situated on the banks of the holy river more developed and prosperous. The Ganga Yatra covered 26 districts, 1026 Gram Panchayats and 1638 villages across a stretch of 1025 kilometres. The Yatra was concluded on 31st January with a massive Sabha at Atal Ghat in Kanpur. Ganga Yatra ( 27th – 31st January 2020 ) To build awareness on the importance of keeping The Ganga clean and preventing pollution. Various IEC activities were carried out. These include making kites and balloons with sanitation messages; pamphlets and slogan writing to ensure public participation, particularly students. In addition, rallies and cleanliness drives were organised in many Ganga Yatra - Bijnore districts. The Government also carried out Ganga Chabutara (platforms) and Ganga Chaupals (meetings) to motivate the communities living in villages bordering The Ganga. In many villages model village waste hubs were created and demonstrated. Other activities conducted during the Yatra were elaborate Ganga Aartis, public meetings, platforms, and playing of the Ganga Anthem.
