GREEK ORTHODOX ARCHDIOCESE OF AMERICA METROPOLIS OF ATLANTA Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church 255 Beauvoir Rd. Biloxi, MS 39531 (228) 388-6138 July 31, 2010 Our Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church is in the process of upgrading the icons of our church to truly reflect the Byzantine style found in icons throughout all Orthodox churches. Our Church needs your monetary support for this important project. We have obtained the services of a noted iconographer, Father Demetri Leussis. Father Demetri's work can be seen in many Orthodox Churches around the world. Attached is an example of Father Demetri's work. It is an example of the Platytera icon. We intend to replace the current icon above the altar, which does not reflect the Byzantine style, with the traditional Platytera icon. The Platytera icon is above the gold line in the example and will include two angels on each side. The cost of this upgrade will be $7,000. We also intend to add the Pantocrator icon, the icon of Christ normally found in the dome of a Orthodox church, in the triangular area above the Platytera. The Pantocrator icon will be approximately six feet in diameter and cost $4,000. An example of a Pantocrator icon is also attached. The total cost for the project is $11,000. Father Demetri is leaving for during the month of August. We need to give him our decision before he goes so he can make the necessary plans for this important icon work. He is working on an iconostasis icon project for another church as well. He is very excited and wants to get started as soon as he returns from Greece. He has asked for a $4,000 down payment to get started with the remaining $7,000 due upon completion of the work. Please take the time and reflect upon the importance of Orthodoxy on the and the beacon of light that shines from Holy Trinity to all Orthodox faithful. Father Stephan and your Parish Council as well as those who attended the last Parish General Assembly are very excited about this Byzantine icon project.
