Demographic The Hayfield pyramid is located in the south area of Doncaster and consists of 1% of the Doncaster population. Within this pyramid, 96% of the children are White British. In 2010, the Hayfield pyramid had an IMD of 66.09% and was the least deprived area in Doncaster, 2015 data shows that Hayfield IMD has increased further to 69% and remains the least deprived area in Doncaster. The Hayfield pyramid is almost double the Doncaster average of 35.40% (2015). Birth rates in the Hayfield pyramid have fluctuated slightly since 2016. Within Hayfield 1% of primary pupils and 2% secondary pupils have EAL; the most common first language other than English locally is Polish in the primary pyramid and Urdu followed by Polish in the secondary pyramid. 37% of primary children in Hayfield access school places outside of their catchment school, 12% of these were out of pyramid. 26% of secondary children access outside of their catchment school, of which 24% access faith schools. There are a number of planned housing developments, totalling 1136 dwellings coming to the Hayfield area over the next few years. The Hayfield pyramid consists of a range of learning provision types from both the school / academy and PVI sector offering a mix of flexible provision. 1b. Schools There are 6 schools in the Hayfield pyramid, 3 maintained schools and 3 academies. There is a program of capital and S106 investment in Doncaster. Within this pyramid, two schools have accessed capital funding. Across Doncaster, there are a number of sites identified for LOCYP. There are no sites available in Hayfield. Pupil absence in the pyramid has varied only slightly over the past five years. 4 Permanent exclusions have risen from 1 to 2 for the years 2016/17 and 2017/18. Projections for the next five years show shortfalls within clusters in the primary sector for most schools due to the impact of the large number of housing developments. Secondary projections show a shortfall of places in most year groups for most forecasted years, this is further enhanced by the increasing shortfalls at the neighbouring Rossington All Saints Academy. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and work with the schools affected. 1c. Childcare and Early Years Childcare places are based on summer terms as this shows the highest occupancy throughout the year. In Summer 2017 there were vacant places in all provision types, however there is no provision available after 6pm. Based on current birth rates and average take up over previous terms we are not projecting any shortfall in childcare places in any age groups. Childcare costs within Hayfield are roughly in line with the Doncaster average and fall below the Yorkshire and Humber averages. The take up of 2 year old early education funding borough wide was 80% in Autumn 2017, 75% in Spring 2018 and 80% in Summer 2018. The take up of the 3 and 4 year old universal provision borough wide was 92% in Autumn 2017, 98% in Spring 2018 and 98% in Summer 2018. The take up of the 30 hours extended entitlement borough wide was 78% in Autumn 2017, 79% in Spring 2018 and 76% in Summer 2018. There are no identified concerns from families in the Hayfield area highlighting shortfalls in provision 1d. SEND There is no specific SEND provision in Hayfield, however all provision has to meet the requirements of the SEN Code of Practice and Disability Discrimination Act requirements.
