Bio for Major Henry Chan Major Chan was born in Guyana, South America in 1960 and moved to Canada in 1966. He completed high school in Lynn Lake, Manitoba and enrolled into the ROTP program at the Royal Military College in 1977. He graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1981 and went on to complete his formal military training as a Military Engineer at CFB Chilliwack in 1982. From there, Henry’s first working tour was at CFB Edmonton, where he was employed in the Construction Engineering section as Technical Officer, Design Officer and Administration Officer. In 1983, he was posted to 1 Construction Engineering Unit in Winnipeg as a project officer for a two year stint where highlights included 10 weeks at CFS Alert, six weeks in the western arctic and a week at CFS Bermuda. In 1985, Henry moved to CFS Gypsumville where he spent the next two years as Station Construction Engineering Officer. In 1987, Capt Chan was posted to CFB Kingston as the Requirements Officer in the Construction Engineering section. In 1990, Henry was posted to CFB Gagetown and worked in the Technical Services Headquarters. In 1991, he was posted overseas with the United Nations as the Force Engineer in the Golan Heights. In 1992, he was posted to National Defence Headquarters, first for three years with the Project Management Office for Land Reserve Modernization Project and then four years with the North Warning System Office as the Facilities Engineer. In 1999, Henry was posted to 22 Wing North Bay as Wing Logistics Officer. It was during this posting that he met Susanna, and they were married in 2003. In 2002, Major Chan returned to Ottawa to work for the Chief of Air Staff as a Realty Asset advisor. As Henry has memberships at the Britannia Yacht Club, the Ottawa Curling Club and Hylands Golf Club, the only thing left to do is to find a residence close to these areas. .
