ENT 770 (Spring Semester 2019) – 1 Credit Topical Seminar: AGRICULTURE ENTOMOLOGY STUDY ABROAD: PERU GOALS: This topical seminar is meant to expand the knowledge of graduate students on the agricultural production systems, IPM practices, insect biodiversity, and ecological diversity of contrasting regions (Semi-desertic irrigated areas, Andean plateau, and Amazonian rainforest) of a developing country as Peru. Program will include visits to: • semi-desertic high intensity vegetal production systems in the coast; • self-subsistence native plant agriculture west of the Andes (3000 meters above sea level); and • tropical areas in the Amazon rain forest - east of the Andes; WE WILL VISIT MUSEUMS AND HISTORICAL PLACES IN LIMA AND SURROUNDING AREAS STUDENTS ENROLLED MAY TRAVEL FOR ONE WEEK TO PERU (March 9 to 17, 2019) AND LEARN ABOUT: • THE INTENSIVE AGRICULTURAL, SELF-SUBSISTENCE, AND SUSTAINABLE SYSTEMS OF CROP PRODUCTION, AND SEE APPROX.
