APRN Requirements At-A Glance "Advanced Practice Registered Nurse"(APRN) is an umbrella title for RNs who are Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, Certified Nurse Midwives, Clinical Nurse Specialists or Nurse Practitioners. Completion of an advanced formal education program is required for recognition to practice in any of the following categories. Certified Nurse Midwife Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist Clinical Nurse Specialist Nurse Practitioner (CNM) (CRNA) (CNS) (NP) Education Completion of a Master's in Nursing or Completion of Masters of Science in Completion of Master's Degree in Completion of Master's or higher degree in related field and graduate level Nursing or another appropriate Master's Nursing, with clinical specialization and Nursing or related field with a primary focus midwifery program. degree program and graduate level preparation for advanced role functioning on Nursing and nationally accredited graduate anesthesia program. in areas such as mental health, level Nurse Practitioner education program. neonatology, gerontology, cardiology, oncology, community.
