Change 4 Life Change4Life is an initiative brought in by the government to inspire a broad coalition of people, includ- ing schools, families and children. The aim is to improve the nation's health and well-being by encourag- ing everyone to eat well, move more and live longer. DSSN is therefore encouraging all its schools across the district to set up a change4Life club. Due to this we invited schools to attend our Change4Life Festival that was held on Wednesday 2nd November, hosted by the Cavendish school and supported by Cavendish leaders. The festival gave pupils a taster of different sporting activities that can organised at their schools in their Change 4 life clubs. South Hill, St Albert the Great, Yewtree, Gade Valley and Galley Hill all attended the festival. www.dacorumschoolsportsnetwork.co.uk 2 @DSSN42 PartnershipCompetitions Competitions Continued & News (cont.) Leadership Bronze Ambassadors & Health Leaders On Friday 9th October 2015 DSSN joined with St Albans Network to host the year 6 bronze ambassador and health leader training. 4 pupils from 19 different schools in Dacorum came to the event at David Lloyd in Hatfield. The event consisted of a morning of team building activities and brainstorming ideas on what makes a good leader. Pupils then spilt off into two different groups, the health leaders had a morning of practical activites. This gave them ideas of different sports they can run back at school in a club they are going to be tasked with creating. In the mean time the bronze ambassadors spent the rest of their morning doing theory, they looked at the role of a bronze ambassador and what their expectations will be back at school. In the afternoon pupils swapped around, the health leaders had to create a rap, poem or song advertising a new Change4life club they were tasked with setting up. The bronze ambassadors had a practical afternoon of a level 1 multi skills competition that has been set up for them to run back in their own schools. The pupils have now have been tasked with going back into their schools and putting all their training and set targets into action with the support of teaching staff. They are going to be creating/ reviewing their School Games notice board and cre- ating a school sports organising crew to help support them in their new Change4Life club and level 1 competitions. School sport organising crews are made up of organisers, reporters, photographers, team mangers and statisticians, encom- passing a whole variety of roles which can include students that are not particularly sporty. This is a fantastic way of getting whole school involvement. Lilli has already gone into a few primary schools across the district to meet with both the ambassadors and the health lead- ers. Schools have got off to a great start completing all tasks set and more! She looks forward to visiting more in the new year. Keep up the great work. www.dacorumschoolsportsnetwork.co.uk 3 @DSSN42 PartnershipBronze Ambassadors Competitions & Health & News Leaders (cont.)
