We have the most wonderful fundraisers ever… Our fundraisers are simply awesome and, from the bottom of our hearts, we are extremely grateful to each and every one of them… November 2015 Ali Hutchison held a party in aid of the cancer research at the University of Edinburgh. Chris Martin and Harvey Munn organised a Golf Day in aid of the Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic. Jen Durkin organised Just a Sports Quiz in aid of the Euan MacDonald Centre. Liz Daisley held a dinner dance to raise money for research into bile duct cancer. Ryan McKenna organised a disco and raffle in Glasgow to raise money in aid of the Euan MacDonald Centre for MND Research. Scarlett, Clara, Lukas, Morven and Nagda hosted Rock’n’Rowling in aid of the Anne Rowling Clinic. William and Florence Steven made a donation to the Dick Vet’s MRI Scanner Appeal through gifts received in celebration of their Wedding Anniversary. October 2015 Emma Loftus completed the Glasgow half marathon to raise funds for the Anne Rowling Clinic. Ger McGauley took part in the Great Scottish 10k in memory of his mother-in-law; raising money for the Kate Carse Fund. The Forrest Family organised a 5 a side football tournament in memory Anne Forrest and in doing so raised money in aid of the Anne Forrest Fund for Oesophageal Cancer Research. John Laffey completed his third running challenge in aid of the Anne Rowling Clinic when he took part in the Birmingham Half Marathon. Rachel Le Derf hosted a fantastic ceilidh at the Royal College of Physicians in aid of the Anne Rowling Clinic. Ryan McKenna completed the Great Scottish Run in memory of his good friend Robert Paulley; the money received through sponsorship will help the Euan MacDonald Centre for MND Research. September 2015 Brynja Duthie and Donald Grewar organised a fundraising fun run in St Andrews that saw approximately 450 people take part in this inaugural run. Fiona and Sacha gave up booze to raise money for the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies where their gorgeous dog, Dex, was treated. John Laffey completed his second sponsored run in aid of the Anne Rowling Clinic by taking part in the Great North Run. Neil Oliver took part in the Crossmichael Triathlon for the fourth year running, once again in support of the Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic. Paul and Rachel Main supported the Euan MacDonald Centre for MND Research when they tied the knot and asked their guests to support the Centre in lieu of traditional wedding gifts. August 2015 Alycia Best hosted Afternoon Tea for over 100 guests in aid of the Edinburgh Cancer Research Centre. Brynja Duthie organised a street collection in St Andrews to raise money in aid of the Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic. Colleagues in our Communications & Marketing Team raised money for the Euan MacDonald Centre through their bucket collection and text to donate campaign at the screening of The Theory of Everything at Edinburgh University’s Old College Quad. Donald Stewart photographed senior football matches for over four decades before being diagnosed with motor neurone disease. At his last game he nominated the Euan MacDonald Centre to be the recipient of Aberdeen Football Club fans' very generous bucket collection. Emma Loftus took part in the Paisley 10k and in doing so raised money for the Anne Rowling Clinic. Morna Webster competed her fourth Killin 10k in her manual wheelchair in support of research into multiple sclerosis at the University of Edinburgh. Ritchie Bowman, Sarah Rosie and Tammy Hislop (colleagues at TSB) took part in the TSB London Triathlon Challenge: Ritchie swam 750 meters, Sarah cycled 20km and Tammy ran 5k to raise money for the Euan MacDonald Centre. Sarah Brandwood took on the 24 Hour Three Peak Mountain Challenge in support of the Euan MacDonald Centre. July 2015 Christina, Darrin and Greg Borthwick, Chris Campbell, Darren Higgens, Graham Campbell, Grant Saunders, Jason Early, Mark Seymour, Sam Campbell, Tom Winnington and Willie Stevenson along with chef Mhairi Borthwick and drivers Alex Chapman and Angela McCowan, completed the Three Peak 24 Hour Mountain Challenge in a mere 21 hours and in doing so raised over £1,250 in aid of the Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic. Brynja Duthie, of Madras College, organised a weekend of bag packing at Tesco, St Andrews, to raise funds for the Anne Rowling Clinic. June 2015 The Ballater Charitable Chiels and Lindsay Barclay supported the Euan MacDonald Centre for the eighth year running by holding their annual golf challenge ‘The Ballater Texas Scramble’ in loving memory of Sandy Barclay. Their next event in aid of the Centre takes place on Friday 17 June 2016 – let us know if you’d like to enter a team. Jay Grainger raised money for the Anne Forrest Fund for Oesophageal Cancer Research by going on a seven day liquid diet in support of his grandad. Joanna Barclay showed her mettle when she completed the Tough Mudder in support of the Anne Rowling Clinic. Mr & Mrs Duncan supported the Euan MacDonald Centre when they celebrated their Golden Wedding and guests gave donations to the Centre in lieu of traditional anniversary gifts. Congratulations on 50 years of marriage. Mr & Mrs Janssens supported the Anne Rowling Clinic when they celebrated their Ruby Wedding – congratulations on being wed for 40 years. May 2015 Clare Dooley completed the Kirkcudbright Marathon in memory of her good friend and colleague Frances Gough; Claire took on this challenge to raise money in aid of Research to Understand Stroke due to Haemorrhage (RUSH) at the University of Edinburgh. Jake Franks, Luke Doyle, Ethan Brennan and Dan Blythe were all in year 7 at Caldew School when they climbed Skiddaw Mountain in loving memory of Jake’s puppy Max. They raised over £1,200 in aid of the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. Stephen Barclay took on the Belfast Marathon to raise money for the Anne Rowling Clinic. The Forrest Family, including dad Frank and siblings Claire, Sean and Liam, hosted their fifth Y Factor event in aid of the Anne Forrest Fund for Oesophageal Cancer Research. The Y Factor returns on Saturday 21 May 2016 – let us know if you’d like to buy a ticket. Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2015, May 2015 The Edinburgh Marathon Festival (EMF) is Scotland’s largest running festival of its kind with seven races taking place over two days including the marathon, half marathon, team relay, 10k, 5k and junior races. EMF 2016 takes place on Saturday 28 May and Sunday 29 May. Chris Major ran the full Edinburgh Marathon in aid of the Euan MacDonald Centre. Jenny Thoms completed the Edinburgh Marathon in memory of her mum Anne-Elaine Thoms and in doing so raised money in aid of MS Research at Edinburgh University. John Laffey completed the Edinburgh Half Marathon in aid of the Anne Rowling Clinic. Lynne Currie supported the Euan MacDonald Centre by running the Edinburgh Half Marathon in memory of her father in law Drew Currie. Sarah Jeavons took part in the Edinburgh Half Marathon in aid of a project at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies that helps the homeless of Edinburgh keep their pet companions healthy and well cared for. Twenty four members of University of Edinburgh staff took part in the Edinburgh Marathon Hairy Haggis Relay in support of the Euan MacDonald Centre. April 2015 Susan Millar ran 10 miles in the Great Edinburgh Run in aid of the Euan MacDonald Centre. March 2015 Carol Donnelly took part in a 5x50 challenge which saw her cycle 5k each day for fifty days in support of the Anne Rowling Clinic. Guests celebrating Alan and Jeanette Smith’s Golden Wedding donated to the Anne Rowling Clinic in lieu of gifts. Henry and Frances Canning supported the University’s Centre for Regenerative Medicine through their Golding Wedding celebrations. Ivybridge Art and Crafts raised money in aid of the Euan MacDonald Centre through their ‘Stitch & Bitch’ Club. Joan Leslie produced and sold fabric diary covers to raise money in aid of the Anne Rowling Clinic. Lisa Money completed the Rock Solid 15K obstacle course which involved 15k of mud and pain – all in aid of the Euan MacDonald Centre. Fundraising Firewalk 2015, March 2015 Our annual fundraising firewalk involves participants walking twenty feet over embers burning at approximately 1,200°F/ 650 °C. Our next firewalk will take place at Teviot Row on Friday 4 March 2016. Adrian Wilder-Smith supported our Edinburgh Cancer Research UK Centre. Alex Rogers, Alexa Jury, Morna Renwick and Richard Wise supported the Anne Rowling Clinic. Alicia Staley-Best supported the School of Chemistry. Calum Turner supported Edinburgh University’s Student Counselling Services. Desen Kirli and Trisha Goklany supported EUSA’s Engineer’s Without Borders. Edward Coleridge and Thomas Mourant both supported our Alzheimer Scotland Dementia Research Centre at the University of Edinburgh. Emma Macey supported the School of Psychology. George Warren supported the Edinburgh Fund. Georgia Mackay supported our Student Hardship Fund. Hannah Johnston supported our Centre for Neuroregeneration. Jessica Legacy took part in memory of her sister Jordan Berg and in doing so raised money for Global Scholarships at the University of Edinburgh. Madeleine Grant supported EUSA’s First Aid Africa project. Navin Kumar and Sally Argyle supported the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. Nina Seale took supported the Patrick Wild Centre for Research into Autism, Fragile X Syndrome and Intellectual Disabilities. Stefanie Leigh-Ford supported EUSA’s Edinburgh Global Partnerships project. Taylor Mckenzie supported Edinburgh’s College of Medicine and Vet Medicine. February 2015 Aimee, Arianna, Elisa, Emily, Kate, Lucy, Saachi, Samia, Sinead and Sophie of Erskine Stewart's Melville Junior School organised a cake bake in aid of the Muir Maxwell Epilepsy Centre.
