April 2017 The Right Revd Robert Springett Bishop of Tewkesbury Bishop’s Office 2 College Green, Gloucester, GL1 2LR [email protected] Mobile: 07952 273544 Tel: 01452 410022 ext 228 Dear Candidate Associate Vicar, St Andrew and St Bartholomew, Churchdown Thank you for your interest in this vacancy – I hope you find the accompanying documents helpful in considering your application. This is a very exciting post and would be perfect for someone looking to grow in their leadership and to gain experience in the context of a large and flourishing church. It is a fixed term post for up to four years, and there is the expectation that during this time the current incumbent is likely to retire. There is a strong desire from both the church community and from the Diocesan team that St Andrew and St Bartholomew will continue to thrive through such a transition. Whilst a fixed term post may not appeal to everyone, it is a wonderful opportunity to contribute your gifts and to learn and develop in your ministry. (It is important to say that it is not expected that the Associate Vicar will apply for the incumbency should it arise, or stay on at the end of four years). This post is being offered at an exciting point in the life of the Diocese as we implement our diocesan ‘LIFE’ vision http://www.gloucester.anglican.org/about/vision/ It is expected that the Associate Vicar will, along with the Staff Team, enable the church community to fully engage with this and will be personally committed to sharing ‘The transforming Gospel of Jesus Christ’, so that people may ‘know life in all its fullness.’ The parish is part of the Severn Vale deanery. The person appointed will find resources and support within the deanery chapter and synod and is expected to play a part in those bodies. The Roles and Responsibilities document will be of particular use in helping you understand this task. To achieve this we are seeking a person who is: A missional leader, team player and strong preacher and pastor, who will enjoy life in this vibrant church and join in Happy and fulfilled when ‘leading from the second chair’ A gifted communicator with people of all ages and at different stages of life and faith Rooted in prayer, theologically and biblically reflective, committed to their own growth as a disciple of Jesus Christ and ready to encourage others in the faith Contd/… I hope that having seen the profile you feel encouraged to apply. If you have any questions or want to know more please do not hesitate to contact the Revd Canon Jonathan Perkin (contact details in the advertisement). Applications should be returned to the Archdeacon of Gloucester’s PA Alison Vlach, either by post to The Bishop’s Office, 2 College Green, Gloucester GL1 2LR or by email to [email protected] by 9am Tuesday 8th May. With my prayers and good wishes .
