25th Super Bock Super Rock New line-up announcements: Roosevelt Ezra Collective Gorgon City July 18, 19, 20 Herdade do Cabeço da Flauta, Meco - Sesimbra The countdown to Super Bock Super Rock continues. With an ever-eclectic line-up, there’s music for tastes in this 25th edition of the festival: Roosevelt, Ezra Collective and Gorgon City are some of the most recent confirmations. ROOSEVELT The project Roosevelt was born in 2012 with the desire to take a risk and go further artistically, usually defined as “techno-meets-indie-rock”. Marius Lauber’s talent has made this meeting something magical - the alternative rock form his origins now seemed to perfectly marry the synthesisers he has learned to master over the years. The first big hit from this project was “Sea”, the single released by Greco-Roman (Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard’s label). His first EP, “Elliot”, was released right after in 2013. The song that titled this first collection of four songs showed us a dance music crusader in love with rock (and vice-versa). As the name Roosevelt became more and more widely spoken, Lauber continued to work and his first self-titled album saw the light of day in 2016 and contributed to the musician’s growing success, guaranteeing sold-out shows and invitations to be in the best festivals of the world. In the middle of all that, he still found time to dedicate himself to some remixes of artists like CHVRCHES, Rhye or Glass Animals. In 2018, he decided to make some new music, testing new territories. “Young Romance”, released in 2018, puts Roosevelt on the road to a pop alchemy that has already challenged so many other names in pop music’s history. His influences are wide, from Pet Shop Boys to Hot Chip. Save the date and celebrate songs like “Under The Sun”, “Getaway”, or “Forgive” (featuring Washed Out). July 18, Somersby Stage. EZRA COLLECTIVE London is an epicentre for the best jazz music nowadays and Ezra Collective are a fine example of that. These five boys have come together united by the same passion: jazz music and this genre’s potential to be intertwined with other kinds of music. Femi Koleoso, T.J. Koleoso, Joe Armon Jones, Dylan Jones and James Mollison are responsible for this eclectic musical project, while creating their own path on their own language and evoking the greatest names in jazz at the same time. So, in addition to the jazzy technical details, their music is also influenced by afrobeat and hip-hop. Their performances are unforgettable, full of emotion and sensitivity, completely taking over the stage as very few do. After releasing the EP “Chapter 7”, they released “Juan Pablo: The Philosopher” in 2018. The EP was a huge success: the vinyl edition sold out and it took Ezra Collective around the UK and Europe. They were also awarded with The Best Jazz Record at the 2018 Worldwide Gilles Peterson Awards. Their first album, “You Can’t Steal My Joy” will see the light of day this year, in 2019. “Pure Shade”, “Reason in Disguise” and their most recent single, “Quest for Coin”, will be some of the songs you won’t want to miss in Super Bock Super Rock, July 19, at the Palco Somersby. GORGON CITY The project Gorgon City was created by two North London producers: Foamo, also known as Key Gibbon, and Rack N Ruin, also known as Matt Robson-Scott. This collaboration began in early 2012 and it immediately resulted in a first EP “Crypt”, released through Black Butter. Another EP was released in 2013, “Real”. The song which gave its name to the EP counts with the collaboration of Yasmin Shahmin and it was the band’s first big hit. Shortly after, they were already going on their first tour in the United States. Songs like “Ready for your Love” (ft. MNEK) and “Here For You” (ft. Laura Welsh) consolidated their success in the following months up until they released their first album, “Sirens” which was released in October 2014. The album really stirred up the British dance music scene and in the meantime they even produced the song “Blood on My Hands” by Chris Brown. In 2017, they released another success, “Real Life”, which would raise every expectations for their long awaited second album which would eventually be released in 2018. Gorgon City continue to stand out for their pop house, brightened by some captivating vocals and an irreproachable production. Two of this new album’s big highlights are the collaborations with the grime star D Double E in “Hear That” and the pop star Kamille in “Go Deep”. This invitation is really beyond reproach!
